Can anyone tell me why it appears that members profiles go off line when as soon as I look at them. They appear as being on line in search and offline on the profile. This even happens during conversations and they reapear a few minutes later. I have even seen messages read while the recipient is off line. It is so frustrating and makes conversing on here dificult to say the least!!!  |

I suspect that the profiles show as offline as they are probably off line. there is probably a lag on updating it but beyond that you are possibly overthinking it.

Are you talking specifically about chat or just exchanging messages? There is a delay from when people log off to actually showing that they have, rather annoying especially if my friend has sent me a message asking me something, I respond only to find out he has logged off  |

Yeah I get that alot but hey you can control everyone.... Patience is a word that means a lot on this site. But not many people have it |

I think if someone stays logged in but hasn't typed anything for a few minutes (e.g. they've gone to prepare food), then the lack of keystrokes mean that they're shown on their profile as 'last online 5 mins ago', even though they are still logged in.  |
