Just out of interest is the location always accurate as I recently has someone say they were on way to meet me and the mileage never changed at all according to both on mobile. Thanks

I would treat it as a reasonable estimate

If they are on their mobile and allow location discovery for here, then yes, location should be accurate. But if they don't allow this website access to their actual location, it will only be showing their last known location.

Did they make it to the meet?

No they didn’t make it to the meet. I looked at location and it didn’t change the entire time so I thought it’s a case they had no intention of showing up

It can take time to update. We've drove 50 miles, put on see who's near and it shows where we were an hour ago.

It's pretty accurate, even with walking distance...

I was in a town, friend showed up as within a mile but they were actually in the next town. Also had people showing as within a quarter of a mile when in fact they are the other side of town.

That'll be due to either your own device or there's, location history/ configuration GPS settings via the map

Not very accurate ours said we

were in touching distance when we had been sailing our boat for hours miles out with no other boats within miles of us .

I think it goes by the post code you put in on your profile not the location services on your phone

The device changes IP address per location GPS follows per mast each mast can only connect so many so if you aren't connected with the one closest it'll move on to the next

It definitely tracks location if you allow it, when I travel around the country I get messages from my route so people can definitely see me moving near them

Work Abroad / London

Ha ha

Recently had an angry message from a FB of mine that I was 2 miles away from her and had not told her I was back in the UK. She uses Who's Near all the time.

Had to try to explain that I was actually 4200 miles away and show her photographic proof ????????????

Does location work ? Yes most of the time it is spot on but when it is not then it can get you into a lot of trouble

No.

I have my location switched off and change my postcode regular depending where I’m clubbing.

My actual location is turned off so in this instance I’d not get any closer to you.

So who’s near is turned off. And my actual location is turned off.

I only show up on updates on the post code I’ve put in x

I wouldn't treat it as accurate. I can be in various parts of the country across a single day. I find sometimes it's very slow to update your current location.
