Is it right that I was expected to send money to someone for a taxi/fuel money for a meet after only a few messages? Not sure if it is or not, please advise.

Absolutely not. Report them to admin, then block and move on

Wherever

Of course it’s not OP.

Couldn’t you suggest to meet somewhere in the middle in a public place? If they are genuinely interested they will agree and if they don’t, you’ll know.

I did and I drove to meet them and they didn’t show, changed their mind apparently because I wouldn’t send money

Oh so sorry OP.

It tells you everything you need to know about them. Happens to everyone so don’t take it personally and the best advice is to move on and know no money should be mentioned while arranging a meeting, ever.

And of course block and report the profile.

And dont be guilt tripped into paying. I'd be reporting and blocking that profile.

The second someone requests money, block them.

Even couples who hire a hotel room at a very posh travel tavern and want a contribution to the costs?

If people are willing to share hotel room costs that is a different thing altogether, however it still isn't a good idea to hand over any money until you get there

I have gone half on a room, but was discussed before hand and things turned out ok, plus didn't pay till we were at the desk.

it is the only time money had been mentioned but it seemed a fair request.

As for your situation, your right to ask for advise and always follow your nose.

No. You can't be serious? But, if you really must, then send some this way. Happy to take Paypal.

I had an fwb. We'd meet fairly regularly. On one occasion I had to travel further. He offered to reimburse me but it felt wrong taking money. So he bought me some lovely lingerie instead - we both benefitted

Trust issues? Don't blame you. They are not trustworthy. Dodgy.

Definitely not. Classic scam. Your money and dignity will be long gone. Account suspended or removed. Free to start another one.

I suspect if you sent money they would not show up anyway, some people are very clever at this sort of manipulation, it makes you less trusting of everyone
