Someone Sharing Pics With People You Work With

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this! Found out someone has screenshotted some of our pics and is sharing Mrs pics with people she works with without her consent obviously!

Is there anything legally that can be done or is confronting them and threatening other consequences the only option?

Thanks in advance for any answers

I’m pretty sure this is covered under the revenge porn legislation from a couple of years ago. There’s a helpline for it at https://revengepornhelpline.org.uk/

Who knows what else they might find on their device which could help others as well honestly why would anyone think about doing it clearly unstable

Of course, what they have probably failed to realise is that they are also outing themselves, but as has been said above, this is a matter for the Police

He sent it to someone mrs works with saying it is someone they know but don't think they realised Mrs was friends with the person so we got told about it straight away! I wasn't 100% sure on the revenge porn since it is technically a public website but obviously its sharing without permission and not sure exactly what the intent behind sharing it is

Maybe she should speak to someone in HR at her employers

This, it will be a matter for the police and should be reported asap.

Good luck op and hope it's not too distressing.

If they were publicly visible then it doesn't come under revenge porn laws. Theoretically of course if anyone that knew you, including work colleagues, was on the site they'd be able to see them already.

The police would likely only get involved if there was any threats or abusive intent from whoever copies them.

Otherwise it would only be a breach of copyright and intellectual property rights, which the police don't get involved with and you'd have to seek recompense via court action.

This is what I thought if I'm honest! Neither of us are particularly bothered about people seeing the pictures it's more so the fact this guy has went out his way to try to show people Mrs knows which seems like bad intentions behind it!

Also we don't have any face pictures on show so not sure if it changes things by fact he is sending pic then saying its someone you know basically revealing identity when we didn't actual reveal identity ourselves

It becomes a violation of your privacy which he has broken sharing sensitive information about you too third parties which would also make you feel uneasy obviously within your work place police do take things like this very seriously and like I've said who knows what else might be on their device and could be committing further offences

Their is no facilities to download on the site so if the person is taking a screenshot and sharing it's also an offence if they were just showing via the site to others that's different a person doesn't have permission to upload or download other peoples content

If faces can't be seen then just deny it's you.

I was outed many years ago to my employer and they simply couldn't prove it was me. That's why we've never had our faces public and if we do send anyone a face photo its 100% vanilla and could theoretically have been taken from any social media site.

It pays to maintain plausible deniability.

Not all that North of North London

Public pictures don't fall under revenge law but it is potentially malicious communication. I suspect its potentially gross misconduct too

I (Mr F) before we met had a issue at work related to something similar

You can take action under bullying in the work place.

Basically I work in a large company and was a single guy on fab at the time. Not sure exactly who it was that found out my identity was profile wise but let's just say that alot of married and attached guy's use fab.

Guess one of them got bent out of shape that I was having some success, having parties and getting in clubs so decided to out me to everyone at work! Soon all my activity, pictures, verifications etc. Would be advised via screen shots among college's on chat apps in the workplace behind my back. A person I work with hinted what may have been going on but would not give names so I said OK I'm not ashamed but feel it was inappropriate material for the workplace and a form of bullying in the workplace and if it didn't stop now I would get HR involved and to pass that back.

4 weeks later it was still going on and got wind of the group of people involved went to my shift manager and said I don't feel comfortable at work and felt victimised and harassment was talking place, I would not tolerate it and surgest he go and sort it out and I would be seeking advice from the HR department in the morning.

Let's just say that sorted it within half an hour one guy from the group of people involved came begging in apologies and didn't want to lose his job. I emailed my manager and informed him what had been going on and some of the people involved I wasn't happy about it.

Not that I wanted to be responsible anyone to loose their job but got round pritty sharp and those involved deleted all evidence of their phones. but more importantly I was left alone

If someone ever did this to me I'd probably be making billboards of them and putting them around where they lived as it's not right mentally for one to even begin doing it it's not a suggestion take the right path to report to the police hopefully they lose their job as well
