I been waiting for over a week for my test kit to arrive and read it takes 2 weeks to process. In the meantime, how would it work if the men who say they do safe sex, will be clear for us to do oral sex together without a condom? Will a man wait for weeks for a woman? |

Would you be happy to carry out unprotected oral sex that could lead to you catching an STI based on what someone says?
Remember some STI’s can be asymptomatic and you or they could have them without showing signs or symptoms.
If they don’t take their sexual health seriously, why will they do the same for yours? |

To be honest, if someone is not willing to wait while tests are done, then forget it. Health is more important than a quick fumble.
There are other things that can be done, like getting to know each other bit more, phone sex, cam sex together, going out and doing dares etc, talking about fantasise to turn each other on and masturbating in front of each other.
You look amazing so the guy would be stupid to blow it by not waiting for you. |

Trust is a two-way street. Women can get sex far more easily through Fab than solo guys, so it’s a bigger statement from the guy, saying he is happy to wait for test results…..  |

OP I am amazed that your tests take that long. In Cheltenham you can order the tests online, they will arrive the next day and then it is probably another day or two before you receive a text and an online notification to your test status. My last test was ordered and right through to results in a couple of days. |

I still get results from Durham, and my friends in Newcastle use New Croft Centre, who send texts that your test results are all clear.
Though i am now convinced I need a day trip to the lakes… |

here in Edinburgh its a automated telephone system to call to get your results
its really stressful waiting for each result to be read out really... slowly... by... an... automated..... voice.
i once used the private GP service "better to know" and i had to call for my results and the receptionist read them out over the phone to me, presumably with a waiting room full of patients listening
For the OP , there usually seems to be a 4 week turnaround where i am for results (2-3 weeks for an appointment, 1-2 weeks for results). So there will always be a small window of time where you've been tested, but not had the results. Also for some conditions like syphilis, you wont get a positive result for up to 12 weeks after exposure so it might not get caught by a test if you test very soon after exposure. |

If you have access to a drop-in clinic thats great and its the easiest way.
Where I am the drop-in clinics still haven't been reinstated after lockdown, and its all being done by appointment only. I believe the main gum clinic in Edinburgh also makes 50 self test kits a day available which are given out first come first served each day by phone - its a scrum trying to get one on any given day. I've known someone not get one after a week of trying
Theyre using my local sexual health department as a covid vaccination centre - I had a winter booster there 2 weeks ago in the same room where i've previously had a gum checkup. i dont think gum clinics will go back to normal here until covid testing/vaccination is wound down.

2 weeks is a very long wait, mine just arrived and I ordered it last Thursday and that was with postal strikes. I agree if you can get to a gum clinic that will be your best bet. |

Swab isn't effected according to leaflet that was in mine.
The blood test was fun....I bruise really easily and now have a very tender and purple finger tip.  |

According to the place we use you can still swab if on your period. The blood generally does not affect the test. If there are any concerns they should contact you to repeat the test.

if anything like my clinics... they are nearly all only for if you have symptoms or under 25.

I can never get the 4/6ml required for the blood vial. Last one I did I held a hot water bottle for 5 minutes to warm my hand up, I filled up the vial in seconds with no bruising  x |

I managed to get the amount required on the second attempt. I am terrible for bruising though, I'd say around 90% of the time.I have no idea how I got them. |
