Me and a few friends have been discussing age gap and what is acceptable?
We have a mate who is 31 and his girlfriend is 17 they have dating a few months they both seem really happy.
We’re all on the fence over this and a few have jumped ship what’s your take on it?? |

"Age gaps are great, 31 with somebody 14 years older can be fun but a 17 year old girl is a no from me, it's just too young "
So see that was our thinking but seeing them together is odd as they seem so well suited it uncanny |

The age of maturity would be acceptable at what point would anything be classified as acceptable or not to me closer to my own age even by 10 years would be acceptable but someone old enough to be my own child definitely not |

"Half your age plus 7 is the formula I heard. Don't know where!"
Yes what I have heard to and seems to be quite sensible but if it works age shouldn't matter as long as it's legal. |

I've always liked that. I believe it's called "the french rule."
If you google "age disparity in dating," you'll find a wiki article where it's mentioned. |

"The big age gaps are fun. But they usually fizzle out because of the age gap"
This is true. I read about this that age gaps of 5 years or more are more likely to fail than relationships where the age gap is 3 years or less.
Doesn’t stop me liking men 10+ years older than me though, can’t be helped. |

I have no problem with age gaps. My fwb is 14 years older than me. My personal opinion is that people under the age of 18 should stick around their own age area but I can see how strange it is to disapprove of a 17 year old with a 31 year old but not a 36 year old seeing a 22 year old |
