Hi I'm visiting Huddersfield for the weekend. Are their any couples or ladies going to the cinema from Friday night to Sunday evening inclusive. Maybe we can have a chat about the artistic merits of the film on show Henry xx

Huddersfield

Single ladies are not allowed to attend the Empire unaccompanied due to the local licensing rules. Occasional couples do attend so I am sure some will reply here if they are interested in taking up your offer!

I’ve heard of this place, but never been.

I can’t believe in this day and age that a woman can’t go somewhere ‘unaccompanied’!! , because they are the rules … that seems positively archaic!!

Unless I’m missing something here??

R xx

"I think it is to prevent sex workers "

That is exactly the reason why!! Apparently they had an issue with it being used by sex workers when they first opened hence why the local authority imposed the rule that no unaccompanied ladies can attend Empire. Can only go in as a guest as part of a male/female couple & the male has to be a member of the cinema

So as long as her pimp is a member of the cinema and accompanies her the female sex worker can still go in?

Ok.

Gotta love local councils and their 'solutions' Haha

PS - is Huddersfield's called Kirklees I think?

Obviously I'm being light hearted but it dies make me smile the solutions local councils often broker when faced with a situation they are, in all honesty, ill equipped to deal with.

On a more serious note is the Empire worth a visit? Either as a single male or with a female companion (no, she's NOT a sex worker.... before anyone starts! Haha!)

"I think it is to prevent sex workers "

So male or trans sex workers would not be prevented from going in.

Methinks the people on the council are thick as planks

At least they have licensed it - it's 1 of only 6 in the whole of the UK! . It's very difficult to get approval in many areas, for sex-related businesses. This includes swinging clubs, of course. We're still inhibited and uptight, to a great extent

It's pot luck regarding who goes there. Mainly bi guys to be honest and a TV if lucky. Think couples are fairly rare in my experience last time I went there were two couples in but appeared to be happy to stay chatting in the cafe... Didn't see them involved at all. Ofcourse I wasn't there all day so maybe they were shagging like rabbits after I left.
