Thinking about doing this and updating my existing qualifications in makeup etc. I am already fully qualified in all aspects of beauty and holistic therapies.
1. Does anyone know of any accredited trans specific courses?
2. Would there be enough interest within the trans community to make this a viable business?
3. Mobile or in a dedicated room at home, or a combination of these?
Thanking you all in advance. Xxx |

"I think if you promoted it right somehow there would be plenty of interest, especially in the sticks, as at the moment a lot have to travel to Plymouth and Exeter to get the help that they want."
Thankyou, but not entirely sure how to promote it lol |

Get yourself a TVChix profile. There are Services / Business Profiles so you can see similar services across the country. I know of a TV who runs a makeup / dressing service in Ashford Kent. I can put you in touch with them if you PM me. I know they have a Dressing Service profile on TVChix. |

You don't need to do specific courses or anything aimed at the trans community. I'd just keep to standard beauty/makeup services and make sure in your promotion of that it's clear you are an inclusive provider.
If you want to broaden your advertising it'd be worth seeing if there's any trans groups or lgbt organisations in your area who would be able to pass on your details to anyone who enquires.
some trans people who come out later in life can find makeup bewildering to begin with and some can be fearful of going to seek assistance from retailers etc so there is a market, but it's a small oneand hihhly unlikely to bring in a reasonable and steady standalone imcome, especially given how many makeup channels etc there are on social media. |

Hi all xx
As Suzie69 suggested, I would find yourself a Dressing Service and go there a few times. They are brilliant places to go to learn the trick and tips of dressing, and make up. They can provide everything you need, from make up, lingerie, clothes and shoes etc. The people who run them, most often ladies, but sometimes TVs, are professionals at making you look as good as you can.
I used them regularly years ago, but have now managed on my own for years. I will occasionally visit ones nowadays, if I fancy brushing up on my skills, or a ‘girly’ pamper session. Have a look at my recent pics. The latest pics are from a recent visit to a Dressing service - you will see the marked difference from my other ‘usual’ pics.
Oh - I’d also join TVChix too (I’m already there). Great place to find such places as above, and chat and learn from other ‘ladies’. You will also find details of TV girls nights out - once you feel you dare!
Good luck on your journey - cos that’s what it is xx

Hiya,
A bit late to this but you’ve got the best advice already - look on TVChix. I’ve not been on in years but that’s a great community of potential clients. (I’m more about the electrolysis and M.A.C bar, less is more look these days.)
I’d not focus just on dressing, makeup lessons are super-helpful. If you’re running a dressing service then you’d need to invest quite a lot up front.
And also chat to some of the women already doing it, you’d need to develop a bit of an oddball radar to make sure you’re dealing with genuine folk. Like here, really.
Good luck! |
