Absolutely plenty of lube is essential, also needs to be good lube, I use KY lube.
As for position you have to work what’s best for you, when I went to a dominatrix for anal training / pegging she got me on a bench on my back with my leg open and knees up as high as I could get them which really seemed to help, also look at your type of toy one toys slide in better than others.
If your still struggling I would suggest a trip to a dominatrix for professionally assisted anal training  |

It may be your mind as much as your body which is resisting. Face it - you've pushed out turds much fatter than your little plug! (Sorry to lower the tone!)
