Condom recommendation!
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a brand that does extra large but also extra safe condoms?
I’ve found plenty of extra large brands and I know of Durex that do the extra safe ones but the problem is the extra safe are too small and the extra large aren’t the level of safeness I’d prefer!
So I’m looking for both extra safe and extra large… but I don’t think they exist.
Thanks in advance,
G |

"That is extremely dangerous and actually makes it more likely that the condom will break.
So thank you for the suggestion but no."
Actually, the limited research done on this suggests the opposite. Look at studies from Emory University School of Medicine (1995) and Chiang Mai University (1997) Breakage rates reduced to 0.12% in the first study (compared to a standard of 2%) and in the second, there was a 1.8% incidence of broken condoms used singly and 0.2% for condoms used doubly. Where three or more were used together, there was no breakage. Now - these were sex workers so more likely to properly apply them and use enough lube, but it’s an option that is available to you if you want it. |

I used to use these too! They are a good size but unfortunately no additionally safer than the average condom.
If they were as supported as the durex extra safe ones and the bigger size that they are then I’d be all over them! |

Can I ask why you need something stronger than regular ones. As long as you only use a water based lube they can take quite a bit of abuse without damage. The party trick of being able to put one over your head without breaking verifies that fact. |

"I just prefer to be as safe as possible.
If all condoms were very safe then they wouldn’t make extra safe ones I guess!"
Ok soooo I'm gonna flip it around - if all condoms weren't so safe there'd be more selection of thicker condoms available! It's not just that people don't want them, it is that they are not really needed.
This may sound irrelevant to you but I think it's well worth considering. Back when extra safe condoms were introduced, they were actually marketed for anal sex (read: male homo sex). All the "normal" strength condoms were lubed with spermicide but the extra safe weren't The idea was that the anus doesn't lubricate - and there were not many lubricants available to buy like there are today (the one widely available lube was KY jelly which was absolutely terrible, then people used vaseline, baby oil and vegetable oil). So the condom needed to be thicker to sustain this extra friction. Also at the time aids was still a bit of a death sentence, so the need to be or feel to be "extra safe" was high.
Now, thirty (or more?!) years have passed, and the advances in material science have been amazing! If you want to know how "safe" and reliable your condom is, look into how the manufacturers test them - all meet requirements but some brands elect to do more rigorous testing than required for certification. And ultimately, proper&timely use, a proper fit (which you do already!), use of appropriate lubrication, will go a lot further in preventing breakages and slippages than having miniscully thicker latex.
Lastly one useful idea - if you are having very long and/or rigorous fucking sessions, considering switching to a fresh condom every 15'. |

You’ve had many helpful responses. I’ve played with some very large guys and usually carry King size just in case and never had an issue with them. Sometimes it’s the application of the condom that makes them split.
I’m not sure what issues you are having that you want ‘extra safe’ as you don’t actually state what the problem is. |

Or simply perhaps don’t have intercourse, if your looking for total safety, all activities have risks, even crossing the road, wearing two condoms has to be better than one for your concerns , You’ve never mentioned how big is XL |

Just posted on another thread - since discovering mister size 69 my condom experiences have improved greatly. Easily available on Amazon. They are a nice fit and have used them a number of times and so far none have torn. |
