Hi all,
looking to get a deep tissue massage locally and was wondering what the etiquette was regarding clothing at standard massage places in your experience as in underwear or naked? What is generally the norm? |

Morning...I Nilly have needed physio during wfh in lock down...and then followed it up with a couple of sports massages... I wear my hair up..jeans...sit on the bed and take all top half off then go on to my front... never been awkward or weird..Well maybe the first time for the physio man but all needs to be off for the physio or massage..all very professional |

If it is your first time there, they will tell you.
Most legit places will instruct you to leave your underwear on, and those that don’t will cover you with a towel anyway. |

"You wouldn’t be naked lol
This is what I needed to know having never been before. Underwear gets oily then I guess "
It shouldn’t get oily. I go for a massage about once every 5 weeks and never end up with oil on my pants. |

I visited my local Thai massage parlour just last week, for a full body traditional Thai massage. The lady took me to the room, told me to get undressed and lie face down on the bed, which I did. When she came back in, she placed a small towel over my arse, and got down to it. It was very pleasurable and professional |

"I usually leave a wrap for guys to wear...deep tissue likely to be professional, so 'happy endings' unlikely
Enjoy"
Damn, we live in hope! no this is a professional place so no likelihood of that |

"I get mine done at home, I just wear knickers and she covers me with a towel.
She often uses massage balm rather than oil."
Thanks, yes seems to be the consensus |

There is no requirement for you to actually get naked even if yr having a general full body massage. I'm a qualified remedial therapist so specialise in sports/deep tissue and have always been told removal of underwear is not necessary because it may send out the wrong signals and actually puts some people off because they feel to exposed.
I've never worked in a spa but even qualified therapists that work in a gym or privately need professional indemnity insurance. A legitimate establishment would not want to compromise their reputation with an accusation of inappropriate behaviour. Im sure any investigation into such would ask whether underwear was worn. Its not just to protect the client but also the therapist. |

Towel or paper under wear common, naturist all parties naked all these professional whereas I've over the year's become to enjoy tantric massages these are more erotic and involve a mental journey which can lead to massage of your private area's great for climax control, waves of sensual pleasure mental and physical, most sessions I experience a huge climax, it's not set out just for that and can be expected, still professional yet it is a hand relief as it's slowly massaged... enjoy your journey |

One near me (Heathrow area) guessing now from what I have seen that deep tissue is just back and shoulders etc, think I like the idea of full body |

Hello,
First of all I m a professional massage therapist.
So there are types of massage thatyou have to be naked, like the hawaiian lomi lomi, others that you gotta be dressed up,like thai and others that you have the freedom of choice usually.
That always depends on each spa s policies. But especially for deep tissue, being naked is really helpful for the therapist.
So you can ask before the session starts if you can be naked.

"I'd go naked, feels better that way. If they're professional they won't bat an eyelid X "
That shows a complete and utter disrespect for the therapist. If they specify beforehand they're comfortable with it, fair enough . If not, ask. |

I agree, you gotta ask before you get everything off. It can be shocking to see someone naked without any chat before that. And especially when you re at your job it makes things very complicated |

This is very straightforward, the therapist will tell you what to do, and if they don’t, then ask or assume you’re leaving your pants on.
Or if you are actually looking for a “rub and tug” establishment then go to one of those instead. Thai places in particular usually involve a good quality massage in addition to the hand shandy. |

"deep tissue massage is not erotic so dont expect to get hard !!! lol"
... and whatever you do, don’t ever tell a Thai lady you want a “hard” massage, as they will break you. In my experience, “medium” is often around the same pain level as a sports massage |

Yeah that’s just not fair, and if someone oversteps the mark and is standing there in the acid when they’re not supposed to be, it’s going to ruin the entire experience, making it awkward from the start.
Err on the side of caution! |
