Day Use Hotels...

Have used it online. Great resource. Money paid on the day at hotel. Only issue is not all hotels / chains offer day use and, sometimes the price isn’t much different than overnight… but you do get the 9-5 convenience. |

They are great. Really nice hotels, often access to gym/pool/spa as well. Probably mostly card payment only these covid days. Just check the times first ... Usually 9-5 or 10-4 ...but got rudely interrupted at 3pm at one with an extra early checkout time.
A lot of good hotels eg Marriott do their own day rates direct if you phone them |

Just make sure the room is a proper room - a guy I chat to on here got caught out recently as a lot of hotels offer day use work rooms atm
He was expecting a fun afternoon with a woman in a big comfy bed, but got a room with an (unmade) sofa bed, chair and desk set up for a work day |

I’ve used Day Rooms with great success. You do get raised eyebrows sometimes but at my age I don’t give a flying toss.
Just be aware that at some chain hotels, especially around Heathrow, you can only pay by card and sometimes they do ask for ID. It’s never a problem for me, but it might be for some people. The Sheraton Skyline is absolutely gorgeous and my favourite |

As others have said no issues with using them. And if you're thinking of paying by cash I would recommend checking beforehand that you can. More and more places are card payment only. |

If only I'd known..
The number of times I've told a Travel Inn receptionist that I have a business meeting in the room to have the frickin door knocked on every 15 mins to check we're all still awake. |

"Hmmm, I'd not heard of this. I'll have to see what's available near me.
It certainly sounds like a great idea and from the posts so far it seems well worth using."
The holiday Inn in Ipswich do them |

The name sort of gives it away, "Day use" whether that is for an hour or 8 usually from 9 till 5 you pay one price.
If you want a room at night then you'll have to pay for the whole night.

A few do offer evening bookings, up to 11:00pm, but you would have to check the site. Won’t be a big difference in price so why not book an over night and just leave early? |

Booking overnight won't usually let you into your room until the afternoon, then you have it for the night but you can be in your room by 9/10 for a day room

"Has anybody had experience of using Day Use Hotels app - is it reliable? Any issue in accessing such hotels (in my case it would be York/Harrogate/Leeds area. "
Use them frequently. Never an issue. Just turn up at the hotel and they check you in just as norma. No fuss, no drama.
Only downside is you often either get allocated one of the poorer rooms, perhaps one with rubbish view etc but you are not there to admire the view. Often also rooms quite close to the lift and/or the cleaners store, which again is no biggie.
Used Jurys, Village North & South in Leeds, Cedar Ct at Huddersfield, Hol Inn at Brighouse and all dead easy.
Have a fun day |

"Used them a lot in the past, unfortunately though village hotels have stopped "
Village hotels are back on now, I suspect they weren't because they were leaving rooms unoccupied for a min of 24 hours between bookings iirc |

Used one not so long ago checked in paid money got key etc got to the room and some woman was in there already I couldn't get in because she put something behind the door and she rushed over to further stop me from entering.. I said you should have checked out over an hour ago, but she claimed to have the room until the next day which was obvious lies but what could I do.
Went to the desk again told them and Confirmed that she should have checked out long ago and sorted me out another room

That’s completely the hotels fault - they shouldn’t have given you the room without checking! |

Use it all the time, it's never been a problem, very discreet, pay on the day. Fantastic. |

Yes, have used it a lot, I was dubious the first time, so I rang the hotel to confirm before hand and yes, booking confirmed. I was also concerned if the staff were thinking what are you doing in a room all day. Again though, the staff couldn't care less, as long youre not causing trouble then it's fine. Just check hotel entry options for access for others without a key card. You may need to meet them in reception |
