Why don't guys turn up for a meet?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I've been privileged to meet some really lovely ladies in my short time on Fab. We've chatted about Fab and meets etc as you do.
It seems to be an alarmingly common theme that a large proportion of guys either don't turn up for a meet or cancel at short notice. I know and understand that sometimes 'real life' can get in the way but surely that doesn't happen all that often?
It can be fiendishly difficult to get to the point of having a social meet. The majority of messages I send go unread, let alone responded to. If I receive a response then there is a period of time messaging each other and building a rapport before arranging an initial social.
Why then do so many guys appear to spend all that time and effort to get that far and then not turn up as arranged or cancel at short notice? I've been told of some absolutely appalling excuses for cancelling a meet with a lady.
I totally don't understand why guys do this? Although it also happens the other way around as well.
If you don't know either then please amuse us with the worst excuse you've been given by someone for cancelling a meet with you.
Best wishes and Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays. |

Some people just like the excitement of chatting I think
One thing I started doing because of tinder.. was only meet if they send a location pin on WhatsApp
That's the best way to get a genuine meet..
On previous fab accounts I'd been to agreed location only to then get blanked for whatever reason.
Pointless, that's why I only use fab to perv now as i don't club or actually swing |

It totally spoils the excitement of a meet, I no longer get that excited tingle anymore as I never believe that he will turned up. I've never had a no show but plenty of ghosting. Had one last Saturday, just stopped talking an hour or so before he was due. |

Never had a no show but plenty of ghosting as soon as the date has been set.
Not exclusive to Fab, it happens in vanilla dating too.
I put it down to my horrid personality and don’t give it another thought |

I’ve heard this so many times. Either through direct messaging or profiles.
It’s just bizarre that the unreliable seem to talk themselves into meets, where as the reliable guys seem to struggle…
Woe is me lol. Nah I’m doing fine, mr ever reliable. |

One of the conundrums of fab .. Lots of guys struggle to get meet s ... And at the same time quite a lot don't turn up...
Tho a fair few couples don't turn up either...
I think it's just a hobby for some ... Being a pain in the arse....

I’ve never failed to meet when arranged, yet have been cancelled on, ghosted, and ‘no showed’ several times by couples and solo females. It goes with the territory unfortunately, mostly down to nerves I think, but I just block and move on |

Whereas you're probably correct in what your saying about men not turning up for meets, let's not forget that it's not exclusively men who are guilty of this. I've had my fair share of women no show and ghost me, it comes with the territory. Couples so far seem to be the most reliable |

I've been stood up, on vanilla dating sites too.
Only once on fab. (So a large percentage of my meets)
But have attended 'gang-bangs' where so many other dropped out / ghosted that it was a threesome. |

They came after chatting with someone.
Similarly, fantacists, who have limited connection to reality.
They may be cheating and can't honestly get the time, unless giving the game away.
You were a make do option and never really committed to, in their minds.
They want sex, not any interaction of minds. You could have been the equivalent of a free escort.

We've had a lot more no-shows recently. Almost all of them were non-verified by meet, and almost all we're between 25 and 35. We try and make guys feel comfortable in our chats and always ensure that they know that we are a couple, not just me pretending. But often they just don't reply to our message the day before, or they do and then just don't turn up.
We assume that they either couldn't get away from home/partner, got cold feet and didn't have the balls to say so, or we're always just winding us up.
It's especially upsetting as Char has post-chemo health issues including pain and fatigue and we need to "book" time before and after a meet for her to rest. So a meet essentially takes up half a day before and the whole day itself. We don't book "spare" guys, so every no-show is a wasted (and rare) opportunity.
