There are some Americans on here, but when signing up and you're asked for the first part of your postcode, what do you put?

Put SW11. It's the postcode of the US Embassy in London!

We put our postcode in Surrey because that's where we live and one of us is American. Not that that is going to answer your question.

You select the country when you join.....

Or if you want to change your country after joining, go to Account, then looking for and change country at the bottom

The "American Embassy" comment was just jocular, but if you want to use something genuine, innocuous and "neutral" then just use the postcode "W1".

W1 is the (prestigious) postcode for Mayfair, West-Central London...
