I'm into a bit of a mix of bands. Less so the classic stadium rock though tbh.
The last 10 bands I listened to on Spotify were:
Therapy?, Wildhearts, Gary Numan, AA=, NIN, Alice in Chains, Rancid, Idles, Pixies, Wargasm. |

Mainly rocker, muso, but into a large variety of styles & artists also. Don't pick any certain bands, if I like a tune/song I listen to it, if I don't then I leave it.
Unfortunately too many over-rated & spoilt bands these days, too much ligging n' arse lickin' shoulder rubbing for my liking anymore, but I am 60, old skool, from a time when bands toured properly & did the ground work before any fame or fortune, so I guess in ways I can't be helped!!!! Still it's the music that matters most.

I'm pretty sure that has been the case from the 60s on, though back then there was more arrogance and prima donna, i'm a superstar attitude. Most bands i have seen these days are down to earth and happy to have a drink and a laugh with the punters. usually the ones who are up their own arses are the old school lot who've made their money and are better than everyone else

I'm an aficionado of most things rock, metal, indie, goth, glam, prog, blues, folk, country and punk based [except a lot of hideous modern shit] with a particular predilection for 60s and 70s sounds. It's therefore great to be able to talk to other swingers who share this interest, as it has to be said, there aren't that many in the clubs that I frequent!! Then again, I meet more play partners in clubs than I've ever done on here, so swings and roundabouts really... |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big) | |
Definitely! First gig was the Buzzcocks in about 78, soon followed by Motorhead, Thin Lizzy (favourite all time band), Saxon, then over the years, amongst others, Van Halen, AC/DC, Def Leppard and the mighty Thunder! |

Yes. That would most certainly be me.
I've been involved with music (mainly rock/metal) since I was a teenager and since then I've played professionally in bands, also been a roadie for quite a few years and currently earn my crust as a sound engineer. |

Music is a huge part of my life too - Rock, punk, goth, industrial, ska, and so on.
Started with Monsters of Rock 88, still going to festivals now; seen too many bands to mention all, but recent ones include Skindred, Terrorvision, Sham69, Bad Religion, South of Salem.
Next will be Frank Carter, Enter Shikari. |

We love maiden. Looking forward to them touring the new album.
Saw them a couple of yrs ago, epic show, you'd not know they're all 60 ish "
I saw maiden on the Bravd New World tour. Fantastic. Rob Halford was supporting. He was great.
I've been disappointed by there last few albums. There current one lyrically and musically is great. Proper Maiden. But unfortunately I think Bruce's voice has gone! |

Yep.
Grew up on a diet of metal, still love it. Branched into punk, new wave, feel head over heels for shoe gaze, Madchester has its moments prefer The Fall, DC / Baltimore hardcore scene love and will always make time to give new bands a whirl although find they are lacking the intensity that sucked me in as an 11 year old. |

"We are fellow rockers, seem few and far between in the southwest "
Unfortunately it would seem the numbers have dwindled but that may be due to the fact there are less rock pubs & clubs then there use to be. I recall playing quite a few gigs back in the early 80s in Plymouth. There were loads of places to play at & you could easily do 3 or 4 nights in a row.
That use to be the same for many coastal towns back then. Hospitality was excellent & it was unheard of to be without a drink, bite & accommodation with the compliments of the pub or punters. Rock fans, bikers & even the skinheads treated you well!
Glad I grew up when I did with all the experiences I had. |
