It depends on the site and if you want to use their services.
But understand the risks. No company is immune from suffering a data breach, so only share what information you are happy to end up in the public (criminal) domain. |

Think it depends on how badly I needed to use the site and if there were alternative. Lots of people moan about giving there details out to large websites yet happily share every intimate detail about there lives on various social media sites which would make identity theft very easy for the average hacker if they really wanted to. |

This will be due to the change in MasterCard regulations... To take payment using the MasterCard network they have to verify users ID and prove that they are over the age of 18... It's been needed in professional porn for years. |

I think it’s only a matter of time before Fabs is forced to request ID verifications and written consent of content sharing for photos and videos showing people other than the members.
Very much like the pornsites and banking institutions have started insisting on.

dont forget that most of everyones data is avalable to anyone determined to find it, so its pointless worrying about it, the trickis to have more than one bank account and not fall for scam emails etc, people who think not giving out id are nieve at best, its all out there on the web somewhere |

This isn't uncommon. The Electoral Commission reports something like three million UK voters have no photo identification. (That's why the Tories are going so hard on voter ID; they want to exclude everyone too poor to have a passport or driving licence from the democratic process.)
There's a popular swiping-based dating app that is increasingly demanding a scan of your passport. I've just stopped using it. |

I have no photo id , I've managed to register with a dentist and gym before. May struggle with the bank though as I've never tried. |

Love your politics too far left for me but I understand your point about those not privileged enough to own ID the government should make it easier and cheaper to get ID.
However a bit too far left for me. I feel safer knowing someone has shown ID I would be happy to put mine online with fab and know others have too
I feel safer knowing people are ID’d at kestrels they are more likely to behave

I am registerd with a surgery and a dentist - so I assume I can do a Subject Access Request if asking doesn't work.
I have a bank account and rarely use cash.
I never needed to prove identity to join my gym (I get access via my work ID card).
I can't use the NHS app as the alternative authentication mechanisms don't work for me |

You can see your NHS records via a NHS App - verified via your doctors who send you a link to your email.
Dentist, don't need photo ID either.
Banks - the Bank online App, is easy enough too for extra cash. Think some banks only allow so much cash out with certain current account bank cards. |

NHS - ring your doctors. Join the NHS App. That's where your covid vaccinations and passed medical prescriptions are stored. They will send you a link to your email, which counts as verified as who you are, by a third party.

They should, as we are increasingly depending on official photo ID to gain access to services. But where is the gain for a Tory government?
Those who can’t afford to spend £££ on a passport are more likely to be more dependent on state support and belong to the “vote Labour” demographic. (If you can’t afford a passport but vote Tory, you really aren’t helping yourself!) By disenfranchising them, it’s a win. |

Okay. Let's say the government make it cheaper to get ID. There will still be people who just can't afford it. There are millions of people who can't afford *food*, for fuck's sake.
Let's, then, say they make photo ID free. Great! We all have photo ID... except the government has just introduced a mandatory ID card scheme by the back door. "PAPERS PLEASE!" et cetera.
I'm happy to *show* my ID, like when joining my local swingers club, for example. I'm *not* happy for that information to be put where any enterprising hacker can steal it, or where any incompetent company could leak it, or where any unscrupulous people could sell it. So no, Tinder cannot have a scan of my passport.
It is genuinely disturbing that any resistance to authoritarianism, or any acknowledgement of systemic inequality, or an awareness that there's no such thing as foolproof data security, could ever be considered "too left-wing" for anyone. |

I've got no photo ID now... Passport expired last year and honestly didn't see any purpose in renewing as I figured it would be halfway to expiry again before I would do any more international travel, it would just be £75 quid down the drain. Driving licence is the old paper one before the photo card was introduced.
I did think about changing in the driving licence for a new one to get photo ID, but the application through the gov website doesn't seem to have any way of saying (a) I've got an old style licence that I want to change to a new one, (b) here is the photo to put on it. As far as I can tell, I'm supposed to already have a photo on record that they can check the new one against, eg passport photo. But because the passport is expired, they can't/won't use the picture from that. But I don't fit the box of new person submitting photo for first time, so can't do that either...
To do anything else I need my birth certificate - not a clue where that would be, probably haven't seen it since got my first passport. Now if my passport wasn't expired, I could use that as ID to get a new copy of my birth certificate...
Quite possibly I'm on route to becoming a non-person... |
