What is meant by 'Top' and 'Bottom'

I've recently started enjoying playing with chaps as well as lady's so I guess that makes be Bi rather than just curious. I'm coming across the terms Top and Bottoms - I think I understand what it means, but can someone spell it out in words of one syllable for me please? |

Top ... Someone who prefers to or will only give penetrative sex
Bottom ..someone who prefers to or will only receive penetrative sex |

Great question. This is where I am.
Not interested in anything anal at all (in fact it's a complete no-no) bit happily orally bi, both ways. Are there many of us around? |

From a kink pov they are used to denote roles during a casual/pick up play session.
Top - someone who acts in a dominant role during a scene but is not in a D/s dynamic with the person they are playing with.
Bottom - someone who acts in a submissive role during a scene but is not in a D/s dynamic with the person they are playing with. |

Top & Bottom refers to anal only
I don't think there's similar terms for being orally Bi only, although lots of guys do oral only with other guys, giving or receiving both seem popular |

In this context perhaps, although it can refer to preferences in respect of dominance and submission.

I think the term 'orally bi' is a bit misleading.
I don't think people can correctly claim to only be bisexual (within the true meaning of the term), but only when it comes to oral sex. If so, that would imply that they are otherwise straight. I think what they're really saying is they are bisexual (within the meaning of the word), but are only into oral. Lots of gay men for example don't have or want anal sex, but they're still gay. |

This.
The terms can be used by straight people too.
I'm a service top, which means I perform the dominant role, but I am doing what the bottom wants to please them. So they are actually more dominant. |

No it doesn't include oral. If you only want oral just say so to the guy. Many bottoms will meet only for oral if that's what you want. Tops less so but some will do so if the oral is both ways |

Wow labels are complicated enough and you've just made it 100x more so or at least you've totally confused me
Lots of guys here are open to oral Bi play whether they claim to be straight, Bi, bicurious, infact there's posts almost daily from straight guys happy to suck or be sucked by other guys / I don't understand the need to pigeon whole people who cares how they describe themselves as long as they are happy
I only mentioned the term Orally Bi as the original poster said he wasn't into anal play, but was happy to play with guys orally, as he seemed to be looking for a way for him to possibly describe himself & what he's into in his bio as it's a phrase a lot of people I know use

I mean there's a million nuisances and derivations depending on how you see it. People really like to phrase it in ways only students or those that work in Psychology (for example) would do I doubt they all actually think like that, straight off the Google search some of that. I do the same usually, except its a massive stretch for me to say anything other than what I'll weight in with.... which is,tops the top, bttm's the bttm, you should know where you stand, or not stand with that, rest you'll figure out yourself.....thats the best bit !! |
