Always be prepared for the person you are meeting at their place, their OH could come home unexpectedly. You've been warned.

Importantly, if you have children, other family living with you, they could arrive home unexpectedly

It happens, trust me.

Perhaps invest as much effort into checking they actually live alone as you do in testing how polite they are.

Failing that, try hosting in your own home or book a hotel if that isn't possible. That way, you're in control of who may or may not walk in

I am not sure how much effort you can actually put into checking someone is single.

I always meet at other people’s places and I have to be honest I have never had issues with family etc turning up.

A few people have not quite looked like their profile but that is par for the course isn’t it?
