Do you mean a REAL butt plug, or the more common fashion accessory, the princess jewel plug?  
As said inflatable, vibrating plugs are fun. Both me and Mrs RS enjoys those, I like to reach back when it's in her and further inflate it sneakily while we're having fun.

Anal plug safety.
When buying make sure the flange is at minimum the same size as the girth of the plug. Less chance of losing it....

Also.
Plug material versus lubricant is incredibly important. Silicon toys do not like silicon lube as an example. They tend to melt and go gooey...
For long term wearing. Comfort is the key. Medium sized - you'll keep in for longer. Long lasting lubricants like silicon based work well, but are toy dependant as expressed above. There are improvements to water based lube, but they will Absorb over time. So take extra lube on the go to re apply as required.
Deep cleansing is important. An enema rather than douche clears the track further down. Less chance of poo back up behind the plug through the day.
Another safety note. Long term wearing. Add a safety loop to the shaft of the plug. This can be knotted around the gusset of underwear. So if the plug does does go somewhere it shouldn't, it has a safety line to retrieve it with. |

I also like the medium Doc Johnson, its a good size, feels nice and full. I have a medium metal one which is nice for weight and temperature play and looks pretty but comes up a lot smaller, good for wearing out and about. Just like to echo comments above, foxtails are very sexy, and allow for easy removal, however can be difficult to source good ones.
