We’ve had our account hacked before and our photos sent out. Have also had people pass our photos as their own. It scared me to death. In the end I figured that they are just sad people. Fortunately nothing came of it though when I did report it all I got was a crime number then nothing else. |

Generally it is impractical to take any legal action.
Using someone else's photos is rarely a criminal offence, it's normally some kind of copyright issue which would be pursued through the civil courts.
If the person doing it & or the website involved are _ased outside the UK it is pretty much impossible for an individual.
The best course of action is a takedown notice, though again it depends on the website & where it is hosted. |

"Generally it is impractical to take any legal action."
…unless the image is being used for black mail, extortion or revenge porn, as you say it’s most likely a copyright offence, so covered under civil law.
People who think they are going to take civil actions against people using their photos on here have no idea of the costs involved (no, you won’t get legal aid) or the complexities of building a case against someone.
Personally, I’ve (C) had a photo of mine stolen and used on regional website of a very large Korean clongromerate. I contacted them, and the image was taken down in hours. Yes, I could have taken legal action, but really, fronting $100,000 to build a case? No thanks! |

I would take action if I felt it needed it. As in it was used against me in anyway.
what you put out there you expect people to be able to keep is my motto.
(and yes I know the process/ costs involved as mentioned above). |

"Was just wondering what action people would take if someone uses their photos? Can & will they prosecute someone! Therefore bringing it out publicly..My opinion is they won't..."
Very few people are going to risk a potentially expensive civil action to do this. Good luck getting anyone in a uniform to act upon it unless it's illegal material. |
