We have the Hawaii (square one). I’m surprised both of us don’t have webbed feet yet as we are in it every night.
The only thing to watch out for, and it’s pretty obvious when you think about it, is the jump in your electricity bill. We’re about £50 a month more just now. |

If you just want a cheap 2 person or temporary one then B&Q do the Lay Z Spa St Lucia for £310.
It days 2/3 person but would be quite a squeeze at that. It is a ice size for 2 and is easier to heat and keep at temperature due to a bit less volume of water over the bigger ones too.
We just got one as a stop gap until we finish our new garden and get a permanent one. |

£50 seems a lot(ours cost about £20/25) , are you keeping it at 40dec all the time, we always drop ours down to 36 when not using it, it only takes 2/3 hrs to heat back up to 40 ready to use |

I find it hard to believe that your electric bill is 20 to 25 pounds extra a month. 50 pounds is at least the average. I know a fair few people who leave them on all of the time between 36 and 40 etc. No where near the small amounts you mention. |

I drop mine to 33 when I'm not using it
I have a round inflatable covering the water x then I have a inflatable cover lid
Probably takes 4-5 hours to heat up to 40 so it's planned rather spontaneously useage
But turn on lunch Friday - use it in the evening- drop to 33 and repeat for Saturday/Sunday
My issue is the slight hum / white noise of the unit when it's late at night / everywhere is silent
Have heard people encase the egg in sound reduction material- does it work? |

We run the filter 24/7 but only put the heater on if we think we are going to use it later. £50 ish has been the increase for the last two months. |

50 quid a month???? If only...
During winter the bill went up 200 quid a month, even with turning it down to 30 when not in use.
Fair enough it does hold 1700 litres..
Bottom has a layer of insulation and so has the lid, see what the bill is during summer |

I’ve got the square Hawaii too. No idea on the cost of running but don’t think it’s as much as £50 a month but could be.
Am I operating it wrong if I switch it off after use? Run it usually at 39 (amazing temp difference between 39 &40) and switch it on to heat mid afternoon for use at night if I intend to. |

Lay Z Spa Moritz.
Bought a couple of years ago and love it.
The wife & I have had some good fun in there together, but yet to have anyone else join us for fun.
It says it is designed for seven people.
We may need to put that to the test at some point |

Its costing us average £2.50 a day to run, leaving it on 39 oC. But it mounts up.

Here here ... Huge vote for the lazy spa , we have the Paris , and spend so much time in it , even got it under a gazebo now so we can use it in the rain .... I think they maybe addictive ,on our 3rd summer now and it's been fine , as long as you keep the filters clean and look after the chemicals they are very reliable , we hardly ever use the bubble function as the noise is a bit intrusive , tend to power it off at the end of the evening then pop it on about 2pm in the afternoon ready to use again by 7pm , have found that 40 is too hot for us and tend to run it at 37.....,guess we spend too much time in it and don't like being slowly boiled |

We had Lay Z Spa Miami for 5yrs. It was one of the best things we bought. Unfortunately it got a puncture, which I tried to repair but it slowly got worse so I bought a 1000ltr IBC Container and used the heater pump egg from the LayZ Spa to convert it into a hot tub. Was a job getting it fully insulated and clad in pallet timber but it's brilliant. Gave us a new hot tub for next to nothing!
Yes I'd recommend a Lay Z Spa. I wouldn't recommend it being left out in the open all year round or keeping water in there for months on end though!

We have a palm springs layzspa, we've had it for 4 years, in that time we've used it constantly
Never put it away in winter, just drop the water level to below the pump and store it in the shed. The liner stays outside all winter.
It's survived with no punctures, despite dogs and chickens pecking and clawing it!
Can't wait to upgrade to a new one! Looking at the rotospa range |

Anyone knows how much does it cost to run it? We have rented one before and loved it but we have been told is really expensive to keep it going |

I'll have a look at our electric bill!
We do cheat sometimes and use hot water from the boiler to speed it up! Then use the water on the garden or to wash the car. |

I find the water quality thing quite faffy...I can't find anything reliable to test the chlorine and PH levels. If anyone has any tips would love to hear as I find the water only lasts a week or so before it needs draining! |

Do you live in a hard water area - that certainly affects how long the water remains clear x
Buy a tub of the cholorine granules - at the end of each tub session throw in a small scoop and run the pump for a few minutes as you are tidying things away - make sure your dispenser has a few tablets in it - I drop the temp down to 33 when I'm not planning on using it
Take the lid off every few days and run the pump for five mins or so x |

We do! I hadn't thought that could effect it but makes perfect sense. The PH always seems to be high. Thanks will definitely get some granules too. |

I got a round one (Paris -4 persons), but I guess it doesn’t matter which as the filter/pump is the same on them all. It’s just the amount of people they hold, and also stock up on some filters and chlorine tablets, as the water can get quite merky. |

Well worth spending a bit extra on the hydro spa, we have Hawaii hydro jet pro. The air bubbles are really noisy! Where as the hydro jets feel much nicer and don’t make much noise, your neighbours will thank you. |

Always wanted to hear what people think of the hydrojet models! Do you find that as the jet water is pumped through the filter that the higher flow rate keeps the water really clear?? (If that makes any sense?) |

We bought a starter kit from B and Q that had testing strips, Ph +, Chlorine Granules and Ph -. We’ve since bought more Chlorine, Water clarifier and Alkalinity powder to keep it going.
Think Mr Pf thinks he is in breaking bad when he is measuring and mixing the various solutions. |

We have the MSPA Alpine, it’s excellent with the same caveats as any inflatable hot tub…
Cats can/will puncture it multiple times: they like to sleep on the top because it’s warm and they know they can find/drink fresh water from the cover after rain. This means, if you don’t cover it and they jump up for fresh water and are “surprised” by the lid not being on them getting back out requires a lot of clawing
If you deflate it when not using it, make sure you store it aim a dry place, the parts are easily water damaged from below (malaria in particular)
Parts are expensive and usually non refundable if you resorted to Google to diagnose the fault. Some will need to ship from China and take weeks.
They take around 8-10hours to heat from a fresh refill and will need refilling every 5 uses or 1 week (whichever is sooner)
We calculated they add around £10per week to keep heated when reducing temp to 25 on non-use days.
Hope it helps.
…Having said all that… does anyone want to buy a nearly new, recently refurbished spa with lots of character-givin patches |

Wow couldn’t put it better! We have the same but do refills usually every other month or every 2 months as it’s still quite new , we keep the lid on before and after use, also stays under a gazebo and no cats to crawl in and out. Guess those reasons keep it clean for longer |
