STI testing London area.
Jump to: Newest in thread
We have just discovered that in the London area you can order STI test kits online and post them back !
Apparently as swingers you can register for regular testing !
I am sure many know about this but I think we need to spread the word !
Even condom users can get a STI from oral sex ! So let’s all be adults and get tested for everyone’s safety and enhanced pleasure !

Have fun ! Stay safe ! Be safe ! |

Seems from feedback by people who have used this service that results take about 3 days. So if you were planning to play at the weekend you’d probably need to be posting you used kits back on Tuesday!!
Any other experiences with service, please post below!
Thank you ! |

Been using the postal tests for ages but I wouldn't test for a meet as it's only a snapshot. I test for my own peace of mind.
I wish the postal tests near me would do throat swabs though.
I buy my own condoms rather than get them from the clinic as they rarely have my chosen ones in. But I dont use condoms for oral. Just full sex |

I guess it’s validity as a test depends on number of partners and frequency of test ? We tend to look at a monthly meeting and we keep our circle of swinging partners quiet small. Assuming everyone in the group is like minded and tests the beginning of the week before play commences, it should be a pretty reliable way of keeping an eye out for any problems !
The problem lies when it’s difficult or inconvenient to get a test, and people only seek tests when they think they have a problem due to discharge etc etc.
No fun pastime is 100% safe, but if taking a test can be made easy, more would do it ! |

"Please excuse my ignorance ! icash ? Does that mean you pay for them ?
Is the blood a pain as it’s a pin prick on the finger and it takes ages to get a big enough sample ?
Thank you for the info !"
It is just the name, stands for Integrated Contraception and Sexual Health Services. But yes, could be confusing.
And yes- we both usually need to prick our fingers twice to get enough blood. But it's just a slight inconvenience, as it's better to be safe than sorry. |

"Surprising how many people not aware you can get vaccinated against Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and HPV. Please do it folks "
Very very true ! I’ve had it before as sadly I get sent to work in some pretty unsavoury places in the world ! However, it should be on every swingers list ! |

Have a question for you all what stis does the postal kit check for? The reason I ask is the only one I see for Lincolnshire checks for chlamydia & gonorrhoea is this the same as the icash service as this is a pee sample or swab test. |

Different counties/trusts have slightly different services. Or at least different names. Bedfordshire, Peterborough, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Milton Keynes and Norfolk is iCaSH.
You register online first, then when ordering a test kit, you need to fill in an online questionnaire each and every time. From your answers to those questions, the algorithm then decided what kit to sent to you. Most common: Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea, then depending on the answers: HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B etc.
For men, it's usually a pee sample and a small sample of blood, for women- vaginal swab and small sample of blood. It all comes in very discreet packaging with pre-paid postage back. Results- usually within 7 days from posting. |

Awesome thanks for the info, will be doing the responsible swinger thing and ordering as I have only every had long term partners for the past 20 years but if I intend to start having fun then it's only right to make sure I am not a risk to anyone I want to have fun with |

I can only talk about the London SHL kits. From what I have read / been told the kits vary depending on what you answer the questions.
If you say your a bi male with a active sex life with multiple partners, you’ll get screened for everything ! Or you can ask for a general screening I’ve been told !
Hope that helps ! |

I pricked my ring fingers and held my arm down by my side. Got plenty of blood quickly. |

"Home test kits are great, but I usually have to dig around a bit in my finger with the pricker to get the required amount of blood for the sample "
I had that problem at first but kept my finger in hot water then it drew the blood easier |

Some good information posted, thank you to those who have given their advice.
Do you think a forun section dedicated to the health & wellbeing of Fab members would be a good thing? |

I think that would be an excellent idea. Sexual health is very important! I think a verification scheme that stored your results so you could show your last test would be good ! Just trying to figure out how that could be done ! |

Just remember window periods as well (if not used protection or had a condom break). 2 weeks from last sexual contact to test for gonorrhoea and chlamydia. 6 weeks for hiv and syphilis - used to be 4 weeks |

Hot showers & running up & down the stairs a few times, beforehand always works well!
Just wish Leeds offered these postal kits to everyone - you can leave feedback and request that your area looks into supplying them to you. If enough of us request the service, hopefully they’ll look at where the funding is allocated, and there’ll be more equal access to free at home kits x |

But then the funding will be taken away from clinics…which if you ever need anything more than a quick test, or you have a worry or a concern will no longer be available to you. |

It just seems unfair that you can only access both clinics and at home kits. if you live in certain post codes. I don’t know how funding is distributed but, there is a need for both services, I agree. I would hope for more equal access though, we like to have options, up north, too |
