Does anyone know if the big chains - Premier Inn etc - are strict and checking people walking in?

Are people free to wander in and straight to a room or will they be forced to sign in etc?

Wondering if an Airbnb might be better for a Naughty meet

Grays, Essex

I would imagine places are a lot stricter at the moment due to track & trace, but hopefully that will all be over in a few weeks

Prior to Covid we had no issues getting guests into Travelodges

Yeah that's what I'm thinking.

Might not let multiple people in a room either yet. Dang.

We’ve never had an issue with hotel 3somes they can’t stop you having a “meeting” in your room. I’ve even mentioned at reception we’re meeting a friend are they ok coming up to the room, wasn’t an issue Or if both parties have a room booked easy to wander to one room.

I've not had any problems. One person checks in. Others walk in later. You can always come down if they need to swipe in. Noone has asked for about a year.

Even in a Covid world?

Ok, that's good to know. Thanks

Even in a covid world!

And now we are entering the next phase of covid acceptance so things should be even smoother

To be on the safe side its probably best to pick a hotel that's large with a big open reception area (and/or multiple entrances), has no key card entry to lifts and corridors and staff that are unlikely to care anyways. Especially if you want them just to come up and knock on your door. Britainia chain springs to mind.

Peterborough and Bedford

We stayed in a Marston Inn near Nottingham last weekend. Reception was in the pub next door, not in the hotel itself, so we could have easily brought someone in.

Also, always ask for 2 key cards if there are 2 guests, one key card each, then it's easier to bring others in (apparently).

Used two Travelodges the week before last and had no problem with visitors. Rarely anyone on reception anyway.

Apart from the Covid rules of signing, from a health and safety point of view they need to know how many are actually in each room in case if emergency. It's best to book a family room for say 4 assuming 4 is enough

North West

Used premier inn and Hilton during covid.

It’s the same as usual.

And the same as out for food, only one member of the party has to give details for track and trace so no issue.
