with the moon n stars somewhere in gtr manc

I am contemplating going to a social, but I will be on my own.

I know a couple of people from chat who are going and maybe one or two forumites, but Im nervous.

Mainly because I wont know anyone and they'd be in their own groups and I'd feel like I was butting in etc.

And also, theres no theme as to what to wear, so havent a clue.

I do admit, I am very shy in person but want to meet people, so any advice on shyness/clothing etc would be gratefully received

If you don't go you'll kick yourself!

I've been to a few solo years back. People go out their way to introduce themselves and talk usually, so you'll be just fine.

As for what to wear - just dress for an enjoyable night out.

Have fun

For my first social back in Dec 09, 4 months after I joined FAB, I messaged a few people I get to know via the forums who were going to attend, exchanged face pics, so that I knew what they looked like, and the rest of history.

I take it it is not the Beach Party as there is no theme.

Have fun all the same.

Great advice from Pearl and View.

Message the organisers for clarity on the dress code. If it's a (swing) club based social then it will be to their dress code.

If it's a private function where they have all the premises then you can be a bit naughty, just make sure you have a coat that covers it up.

If you will be mixing with the nillas then wear what you would wear on a night out.

Btw, don't forget that if the organisers have taken a function room you may have to cross public areas to get to the ladies!

Get a few face pics and ask the organisers if there are some friendly regulars who wouldn't mind you knowing who they are so you have more people to chat with/stand with/go to the ladies with/perv people with...

Above all I'd be very surprised if you didn't find everyone welcoming and willing to chat and make friends. Most socials are purely social so play pressure is out of the way and you can relax and make friends. You may decide you want to suggest play at a later date with some of your new friends though...

Simply go and get yourself a drink, take a deep breath and turn one way or the other and say "Hi, I'm .... and I'm a bit nervous" Trust me, they'll be lovely and you'll soon wonder why you were nervous.

Thanks Tempting.

As far as I know it is in a bar but its a private function so will dress as good as I can do.

There will be lots of deep breaths taken and will hopefully give it a go.

Its hard meeting new people. Just hope the lights are dim so no one can see how much I blush lol

Thank you all again xx

you'll tend to find people wont be in groups as much as you think.... there will be some but most people will probably be milling about....

besides, what a great excuse to go up to people and say hello..... we were all new once...

Have to say this is good advice.

I've been to my local club in a baby doll and also in my jeans! There have been times when I've been out and realised that I had time to pop in a see who was about so I went in whatever I was wearing at the time. I've had just as much fun on those occasions as I have when I got specially dressed up for the club.

I also prefer to wear a dress so it's rare I'm in anything too revealing. But I have been stood next to and chatting and laughing with someone wearing nothing but a few strokes of liquid latex and nobody made me feel out of place or overdressed.
