Hi all,
We would love to upload some video onto the site but need to edit for length and to blur faces for obvious reasons. What software do most use for this purpose? Can’t say we want to spend a load of money on it either lol. |

It can be quite time consuming to blur areas of video as if there's lots of moving of said faces you'll need to blur frame by frame as the area needing to be blurred or covered will move throughout the video.
Professional softwares have tracking options but they can be pricey.
Low end ones I'm out of the loop with. Try googling for reviews of free or cheaper software to see what's available. |

Regarding blurring moving faces. You usually "key" specific frames. For example if you had someone walk from one side of the room to another over 10 seconds you'd place your tracker on the first frame, the next tracker at the 5 second mark, and your last tracker at the 10 second mark. If the person is moving at a steady rate you'd have them blurred the whole time.
Obviously if there's a lot of movement it gets a little trickier. |

Ok thanks for that, definitely sounds like using video with lots of faces in it is a bad idea; so will have to try avoid getting them in the first place. How about the editing for the one min time slot for upload?? |

I always use Adobe Premiere Pro, but that's certainly not cheap, Davince Resolve (basic) is free, but will need either time, or a decent gpu (so does Adobe to be fair) Davince is a bit convoluted to learn too, but the pro (paid) version does get used a lot in Hollywood.
As for free ones. Openshot, lightworks (free one bit restrictive), hit film express
Adobe has trials though, might get you through |
