I'm skinny, straight and not particularly old. I wear speedos. I never really get the point of swimming in big baggy shorts, and prefer the support of speedos (same as briefs rather than boxers when it comes to underwear). |

I wear them because loose wet shorts rub my cock and it hurts, sitting around the pool or beach with them wet they stick to you, when you jump in their inflate like a life raft and I've got big tackle so I like to show off! |

for swimming in UK public baths I prefer slightly more square cut tight fitting trunks. They look more decent, are adequately streamlined and there is far less likelihood of anything popping out accidentally.
However, for sunbathing (where naturism is not tolerated)I always wear Speedo type swimwear. There is nothing worse than a sun tan line near the knees or even below.
Anyone who swims in baggy trunks is either doing so because of varying degrees of obesity or else is not a serious swimmer.
I have found that locals, particularly, in the West Indies can be very funny about skimpy swimwear on men (they don't seem to mind it on women) so when I go into the sea I slip some swimming shorts on over the Speedos but don't like swimming in them, but when in Rome...
German men on beaches don't seem to be bothered how skimpy their attire and I'm told that at many continental outdoor pools tight swimwear is obligatory as baggy attire takes too much precious water out of the pool, particularly on busy hot days with swimmers getting in and out a lot. |

Speedos were never out of fashion in civilised countries. It was when peasants from the States, Canada, UK started to go to the beach that buggies became popular. A kind of male version of burka. What’s the point to be on the beach if you are half covered? |

I believe that people should be free to enjoy wearing what they want to. We are no longer in the era of It's a Sin, with ignorance prevailing, amongst the prolific stupid.
Swimwear is great, as you get to show off your body and also to feel the natural elements around you. Speedos especially so. They give 1 of the best forms of vitamin D generation too, plus good sun tan lines. |

Dark haired men with a tan look better in black trunks. Same goes for vests and singlets.
For me, lily white skin is a huge turn off on men or women. In daylight, anyway, maybe tolerable under cover of darkness! |

Well just a normal vending machine glass front, numbered items I guess (long time ago) choose item ...(goggles , budgies etc ) put money in and out it pops ..,worst thing was we had to rejoin the back of the queue as they wouldn’t sell you a ticket unless you actually had the budgies on you.,, in your hand .., |

I remember sitting in a muscle gym a few years ago. A guy walks in, the colour of walnut, and stripped off down to a pair of yellow speedos, before going through his show routine. That's when it dawned on me, that the gym was predominantly gay! And I'd not taken note of all the nudges and signals the guys were giving each other

my straight friends wear speedo's if they are actually swimming .. if just kicking about at the beach then they wear shorts ...
Cant see why anyone would think its gay men that only wear them, much the same as guys in a nice fitted jock, shit I am a transgender woman and i wear a jockstrap alot as it simply holds my bits in better than womens underwear which ends up splitting my bag in half or eating into my asshole all day . ..
People get these supposed social norms pushed at them from influences outside. |

I remember the first time I went to France and a spa...walked in with my swimming shorts and was quickly told I had to buy and wear budgie smugglers. First time I'd worn them since I was a kid and took some getting used to. I'd prefer to have just worn nothing! |
