Unicorn Hunting:
The unicorn hunting question in the group admission questions has now been updated to reflect that members must show awareness that unicorn hunting is not an ethical practice.
Triads can be ethical, healthy and wonderful but they are typically naturally formed and must consist of multiple separate relationships.
This is ethical:
A + B are in a relationship
They meet C
A + C start dating
B + C start dating
A, B + C agree to also form a relationship together as three people.
This is NOT ethical:
A + B are in a relationship.
They seek a third person to join them as a couple.
They talk to C and start dating C as a couple.
A + B are the primary couple and their relationship comes first.
C has to agree to everything that A + B do as a couple, and must do everything with them together and does not spend private time with A or B separately.
This is also NOT ethical:
A + B are dating.
A wants to be polyamorous.
B is fine with that, but only if A dates other women.
A is not allowed to date men. |

I know where this is coming from. There are a lot of couples who want to bring in a bisexual woman for sex and companionship, but the power dynamic is not equal.
This doesn't apply to the one-off FMF meet. This is aimed at the couples who want to be find a woman for a permanent relationship. |

And the op is trying to define what they consider to be the rules? |

It looks like they’ve copied it from somewhere, maybe the rules of a Facebook group. |

Lol. I love the way it says what is and isn’t ‘ethical’. |

We’ve delved into the Poly world.
If you think Vegans are a bit sanctimonious, think again!

If c doesn't want to date a + b but wants to join them, as a couple, then it is ethical.
The problem with your definitions of ethical is that it is unethical of you to determine what is ethical to others.
Set your boundaries and look for a third to date you both, by all means.
Accept other couples or triads are different. |

What's ethical I suppose depends on the rules discussed ahead and meamwhile a relationship.
I thibk that in human relationships nothing can be set in stone, especially when the relationship opens up to a third party |

I could be wrong, but surely its down to a b and c to decide what they want and how they want it. It's not down to others to decide what is and isn't ethical within the dynamic |

There definitely is a difference in a single joining a couple as an equal partner to an addition to their couple(hood) but don't know anything about the ethics in it all ... as long as all three people are happy then life is good! I suppose it all depends on communication as to whether all are able to continue happy |

I really don't think there was any need for all that.

Is A male or female?
If A is a bi-sexual male, why shouldn't he date men.
If A is a straight male, no problems.
If A is a gay man, it's illogical.
If A is a lesbian (assuming B is a woman too) woman, it's fine dating women.
If A is a bi-sexual woman, it seems unfair to limit her choices.
If A is a straight woman, it's pointless 'giving her permission' to do something she doesn't want to do.

Like most hypothetical ethical situations, utterly meaningless unless we know more details.

How about C meets A + B, has sex with them, dumps them, then moves on to the next A and B. There are plenty of A + B s out there to choose from. |
