Obviously I don't know your girlfriend but if I was in her position I'd appreciate honest and loving communication. I'd probably have lots of questions and would appreciate totally honest answers

You could always watch a film together that features cross dressing. Priscilla Queen of the Desert, The Danish Girl, Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
Her reaction/comments should give you an idea on how she feels about it and may give you a window of opportunity.

Five serious relationship in my life (more than two years) told each one. Not one relationship ended because of my crossdressing. Tell her sooner than later, the longer it takes the more she may resent you hiding a part of yourself to her. 
Not all wanted a part of it, some preferred I just went off alone, however others actively wanted nights out and to be intimate (just lingerie in one case, in male mode). So it could be the worse move or the best one, it depends on her reaction.
