We all know some people lie. They arrange a meet and then at the last minute they cancel. You get some bullshit excuse like my dog just died, my nan is ill, work has called me in, I had had an accident and broke my arm and I am in A&E, etc.
However, has anybody had to cancel a meet last minute for a genuine reason and looked like a liar or a timewaster?
One time I arranged a meet with a woman in Warrington. On my way driving to her the clutch went on my car. I had to call out the AA. They had to tow my car home.
When I phoned the woman I was meeting she was not impressed and thought I was lying. Luckily she accepted I might not be lying and we rearranged the meet for the follwoing evening.
I was able to get my clutch replaced and the meet went ahead the follwoing evening.

I once had to cancel very last moment due to the break down of my neighbours relationship. Her boyfriend beat the crap out of her and she waiting for the police at mine with her baby. I could hardly turn her away when her face was so mangled she had to see a plastic surgeon to repair it. I knew it wouldn't simply be a case of police turn up and done so I let my meet know the situation. I then got bombarded with abuse saying I was a time waster as he had already drove 5 while miles towards mine.......he spent the next few days airing his anger with updates about me being a liar and time waster, despite me sending him 2 pics, 1 of her face (it was so bad) and 1 of the police and paramedics at mine to prove I wasn't lying an hour later.
It wasn't the first meet with him and the last time he was here, the previous week, he had heard it kicking off between my neighbours as he left.
For all I know he's still bitching as I blocked him over it, about 2 years ago lol!!! |

Yep, my brother had a bad accident and was airlifted to hospital with a broken neck, shoulder and a shattered leg. He was in a coma for 2 weeks and over 2 years later he's still fed via a tube that goes through his stomach wall.
Luckily the guy I was meeting was lovely and believed me. We still meet occasionally now. |

Sorry to read this
I had to cancel a meet several years ago, I looked after my dad who wasn't in good health and he got taken to hospital.
My meet knew I looked after my dad, but still got massively got the hump and we didn't meet.
He left the site and when he came back messaged, but I blocked him
I let him know in plenty of time too and it was something that couldn't be helped
Luckily the guy I was meeting was lovely and believed me. We still meet occasionally now."

Nope never stood anyone up but have been left hanging without as much as a message 3 times recently. I guess people have their reasons as anything can happen, a message, not a reason, would be nice. |

Sadly no, this guy was one them "the world only revolves around me" kinda people. He was mortified I cancelled HIM instead I should of left my terrified neighbour and her baby to the mercy of a total nasty bastard in his eyes. Some people hey! |

We've cancelled twice last minute because of my erratic periods, and once at the start of the pandemic when I got a call to pick up my daughter from school as she had developed a cough.
Not sure whether the guys believed us or not, but real life trumps Fab life |

Hardly call those bullshit excuses All those reasons would be good enough to cancel a meeting. |

I literally had a guy get to the top of my stairs to walk down to my front door, suddenly stop and turn around and go.
Contacted me to say he recognised one of my neighbours who he knew well, and couldn't get away quick enough. |

Yep.
Had to cancel about 5 minutes before meeting because my roommate locked himself out of the apartment. Honestly, I would have left him there because he would have found somewhere to sleep but he had a very, very, very big interview the next day for a job with a big bank. Had to cancel so he could be fully rested by morning. He still has no idea about how much of a cockblock he was.
I made it very clear that I was very very sorry. We both verified each other via a call so she new I wasnt fake.
I still intend on meeting, just not for a while. |

Someone crashed into me 1 hour before a meet, meet was organised for weeks in advance.
Couple werent happy and didn't believe me to start.
All communication was through here so I asked for a number just to send a pic of my car, once I did that via whats app, they were fine and we booked it for the next day instead.
They knew I was genuine but they had their time wasted previously by someone who just didn't show and deleted their profile.
Its not easy for couples who have kids to get some free time and childcare organised. |

I’d imagine people with kids have to cancel because of baby sitters and problems all the time.
I try not to let it get to me if I’m on either end of it x |

Cancelled once due to food poisoning, th couple I was due to meet understood at first but still blocked me. Can't win them all.
Had a meet planned once at a hotel and they cancelled on me as I was staying on the 10th floor (Hilton city centre hotel) and she was afraid of heights |

Yes, usually because of a poorly child (and never at the very last minute).
I just re-arrange.
However, this is a reason I choose local meets rather than someone who has come from miles away, as it’s less of a faff for them. |
