Wear a gimp mask

On a serious note I hate my smile so I tend to not smile in pictures

Get a camera with a multi shot self timer mode and watch something funny on you tube while photographing yourself.

You should be able to pick a good one out of the multi framing.

It's because you're not relaxed in front of the camera. Take loads of pictures until it becomes ordinary to you, always make sure you have a couple of sips of water so your lips slide over your teeth and go for it.

Oh and stand at a slight angle, look down and then just as the photo is about to be taken look up.

I used to be like that. Had really bad teeth. Got a bit depressed over it. Got chatting to a girl on hwre, she was gorgeous. She had a perfect smile. She asked what my teeth were like, as i never smiled. I then told her how embarrassed I was. She managed to help build the confidence for me to get them sorted. Nearly a year later, pretty decent theeth, but still struggle to smile as so many years of not smiling

Listen to your favourite comedian on the Internet while you are taking a photo.

Alternatively, video yourself for a while and then go through frame-by-frame to find a good frame to capture.

You are married and in an open relationship. Your wife knows about this profile. Therefore couldn't she take a couple of smiling photos of you ?

Don’t take a photo until you actually feel happy. Faking a smile looks crap for most of us. The only selfies or pics I take are when I want to capture what I’m actually feeling ie pretty, strong, hilarious bad hair day, hungover, sexy...enjoy capturing what you’re feeling with no expectation of what it’s going to look like. And if that moment of getting the camera out causes tension, just try to remember the physical sensation of what you were feeling and you may relax into it again. Good luck...your veri says you have a lovely smile, so whatever you may think it looks like, people like it

Try frowning then turning your photo upside down... No one will notice!

She has tried but as soon as you put a camera near me dont know what goes wrong. My wedding day 3 years ago was then last time I took a decent photo

Brush your teeth a few times a day

Natural photos are much better than posed ones. You'll be much more relaxed when you are not posing, which looks more attractive too.

Find a friend who will happily take dozens, potentially at different times, to get the best. Models have hundreds of pics taken, for 1 or 2 that may be used. For a profile, that's a similar endeavour, to promote something

That’s quite common to go grumpy once married if you asked here first we would have warned you

Video yourself and pause at the smile.

Or, if you have an iPhone, use the live pic function.

A laugh is the most natural smile you can capture on camera for anyone who struggles to smile

I always think I’m smiling but tend to look ‘less scowling’ when I’m having a picture taken. Had to have four attempts at a work pass photo and the bloke that was taking it asked if I could stop making it look like a mugshot! Lol

My sympathies
