In the drawer at home?

I ordered hours hoping that we would soon be able to start meeting and thought best be prepared.

Now it looks like we won't need them for a while

What do you mean how long do they last ?

Isn't it just a small bottle that you pee into when you are ready and then send away to be tested ?

That's the type I have used from Fettle:health

Not aware of any self testing kits.

The Facility

Is there a 'use by' date on it?

A call/email to the company/service who provided it to check is probably your best bet else.

Ones I use are a swab and a finger prick test that have a date on when they need to be sent back by x

That's what we had last time in Essex but we are in Norfolk now.I'll have to wait and see when they arrive.

I should have posted this before but the ones we've been sent don't have a date on them at all other than a date box for you to fill in when you use them

Indefinitely. I once ordered a kit from Fettle but ended up going to the clinic before it came. They texted me a little while after saying they hadn't received my test back yet but I texted back (brilliant customer service) saying I didn't need it anymore but could I keep it for the future and they said yes. I ended up sending it off probably around 8/9 months later and they texted me my results a few days later as per usual. I think as long as you let them know it should be okay

South Wales

I used the Welsh home testing kit the other week and that had been sat in my bedroom for about a month prior to that. I didn’t open any of the swabs or the blood thingy from their seal until I actually used them and the results came back ok (No retest needed or anything) so as long as you’ve not taken the swabs out etc you should be alright.

Maybe ring them to check if worried?

Now or nearer the end of lockdown is a great time to get tested. Nothing can be hiding in an incubation period

They don’t last indefinitely please ignore the above

The urine tests should be fine. The blood bottles will have a date and the female swabs have a date too. Don’t use them after that time. However also Royal Mail are changing there terms and all biological substances will need to be sent tracked soon so you may not be able to use the envelope supplied if you leave it much longer. Finally the clinic /lab may have closed your episode. So it’s worth contacting them for advice.

PS - just checked mine from SH:24 and all the various bits have expiry dates on them. Swab is 2022 but the blood sample end Sep 2020.

I ordered sh:24 kit, so once ive done the swab tests and send it back through the post.

Can you just put it straight in the post box or you need to take it into the post office for them to scan?

Never done this way, as usually gone into a clinic instead, but with covid thought my be easier to try this way..

I used the same people last week, full test kit. I just put it in a normal post box after sticking it with the little sticky tab you get on a Friday about 3pm. I had my results on Monday afternoon about 1pm by email x
