Some tips to avoid being duped, feel free to add to them.
•Be extra vigilant when something seems too good to be true.
•A chat on the phone can at least confirm the person you’re speaking to is a woman or man.
•Put pictures through a site like tineye reverse image search, it will tell you if the picture(s) they’re using have been ripped from the internet. (there are still ways people can get around their images showing so don’t solely rely on this)
•Taking conversation away from the site like WhatsApp or at least kik where you can send extra pictures.
•Lads if you ask a woman for a live face picture and she says no, don’t rule her out for being fake, chances are a fake would provide an instant face picture (of someone else) yet the real woman will be sat on her sofa, no makeup and like fuck is she sending a live face pic there and then.
•If the person has distinguishing features such as visible tattoos (like myself) you can ask them to take a live picture of that part and hold any random object in the pic to confirm you are messaging the person in the pictures.
•Face time or a video chat will obviously confirm you’re talking to the person in the pictures.
When you are in the middle of a conversation a few things that would make me suspicious are someone who doesn’t suggest a meet pretty soon, (current circumstances excluded) if it’s a man talking to a woman, I’d be wary if the ‘woman’ was too overtly sexual and was asking you to describe in detail all the things you’re going to do to ‘her’ this applies to early conversations before you’ve established the personas authenticity. |

All good tips although disagree with the "someone who doesn’t suggest a meet pretty soon" thing - which is not so much an indication of a fake but an indication of someone who doesn't approach Fab the same way as you.
I can go months before I suggest meeting someone (and in some instances it may happen after years of the initial message) - doesn't mean I'm fake, or wasting time, just means that my way of doing things is different to yours. |

Yes, it’s not a guarantee it’s just one of the things that would make me suspicious. It’s not so much the not suggesting a meet, it’s more someone who keeps swerving the idea of a meet or being reluctant to arrange a meet even a social. I should have made that more clear on the original post.
Me personally I like to chat for a bit and then meet socially fairly quickly as seeing the person in the flesh is the ultimate way you know you’re chatting to and sending pictures to the person you believe them to be. Also can make sure there’s a definite attraction. |

Can do the tineye reverse image search on your phone though. That’s quite a good one. Can upload straight from your phone and search. |

All great tips, and thanks.
As a trusting person, always try to see best in people, have been led down garden path a couple times. But I wouldn't automatically class myself as naive either.
As with most things, there seem to be disproportionately more "fakes", catfishes than genuine people. |

Just google tineye reverse image search, then when you go on the site it’s pretty basic, it just says upload the picture and search.
It will either come up with sites where the image has been used or will come up with 0 results. |

You don't even need to upload a pic to it - can just copy/paste a link to it

+ goes out of their way to tell you they're not fake in their profile or in messages. Genuine ppl wouldn't usually care or they'd be insulted if you thought so and wouldn't be arsed talking or trying to prove it.... |

Also, if they’re just wanting picture after picture of you.
Their use of language. I’ve found men pretending to be women use the word babe to end almost every sentence. They must think it looks feminine
Their lack of pictures or crops of the same picture repeated.
Continuity with their pictures. Hair colour, weight, looking like the photos are mostly in another country (I am a bit anal and look at plug sockets etc.)

Also too much being accused of being fake will make a genuine person tell you to fuck off. I’ve had it a few times where the guy keeps saying they don’t believe they’re speaking to the person in the pictures. I’ll confirm once that I am and will happily send a picture showing any one of my visible tattoos. If they keep on it just gets insulting. |

I wouldnt suggest a meet soon either, because I have a busy life and not much free time.
I also like to get to know someone a bit first. Someone can have sexy pictures but for me if we don't click its not the same. |

I wondered if it was just me that did that. Ssockets, light switches, style of doors, windows, radiators, etc is an easy give away with lots of fake pics I find.
I'm often surprised at profiles that purport to be, say, 18 year old women, yet their pics are 1970's style black and white images, and she has a 70s hair do, 70s full bush, and so on. How much more obvious could it be that they are not genuine pics? And yet these "women" still sometimes have dozens of friends, dozens of "likes", etc. |

My pictures are definitely me but I've had people using my images on other sites before so I'd just use that as part of building the picture with women. I pretty much always swap live pictures with people before meeting and I'd be happy to do calls or video calls but it would be a shame if people wrote me off straight away because of reverse image search. |

I have found most people that want to go to WhatsApp, Skype or kik are really only after more pictures and dirty talk.
I arrange my social meets on here and only after that, if it went well would I give out my number.
People have many different ways of using this site. It does become easier over time to spot the genuine ones.
Mostly I use clubs to meet, but I may make some new fab friends during these weird times |

You’re quoting out of context. I was referring to live face pictures. Not many women will do a live face picture if they’re just sat at home in the evening with no make up on. |

I didn’t want to go as in depth as that and look like a weirdo, but thank you for making me realise I’m not alone I do all of the above! It’s amazing how much doors, windows, light switches, even door knobs vary from country to country. |

Just a word of warning about live pics on Kik - there are apps to cheat that. Soon after joining I was targeted by a “woman” who was absolutely stunning but strangely keen and just wanted to talk about sex all the time. She sent me live pics, so I assumed she was real. I just had a bad feeling though as “she” wanted me to meet her at a hotel with a bunch of other people who she said weren’t on Fab. I said no and she vanished. But I was puzzled by the live pics so I looked into it a bit and on Android there are apps that let you send an existing pic as a live pic. |

Few more things you can make out from profile itself .
No verification over a year.
Blank profiles
Then we have people saying " we don't have veris because we go to clubs"
Come on, you should have at least one new Veri from a club as many of them are on Fab now and can easily verify you .

I hate doing instant live video chats or photos as usually i either look a mess or at work...
Depending how sexy the guy is, i sometimes like talking really filthy quickly on in getting to know someone...
Occasionally i would meet someone on an adhoc without too much chit chat... So of course, there's always exceptions to the rule but my fool proof way to check authentication is webcam chat |

The easiest way to get rid of fakes and chancers is to ask for a live video chat using something like Skype.
You cannot send pictures of you from 10 years ago on a live chat.
You cannot pretend to be a woman on a live chat if you are a guy.
there is only so may times you can claim your wife is out for a live chat.
Etc

Think rationally as much as possible, rather than via lust etc.
People have other lives, so don't assume that your time frame is similar to theirs.
Don't dig too much or permit someone to dig too much in to the very personal areas of your private life, other than marital status. Someone trying to pressure you, via knowing too much about you, too soon, is horrible of course and they may have lied about themselves.
Always feel free to ask some on the spot questions live, so that you can have a better chance of knowing jf someone is telling lies. Texts give them chance to think and make stuff up.
Always be more cautious if they get into the sex talk - op covered it. Being slower to potentially meet these is often better, if you don't reject them.
Single men can more freely talk from home during lockdown at most times, so be more suspicious if they say they can't repeatedly.
If you feel pressured, defer or stop interaction. It's a poor sign of how they respect you.
Feel comfortable having someone around you when meeting, as a safety net. Obviously all the other good safety measures stand too.

That's interesting. I have had suspicions, so when I do, I ask for a video from kik cam stating a phrase I choose... never just a pic |

"Some tips to avoid being duped, feel free to add to them.
Just ask for their Snapchat and they’ll snap you a pic and you’ll know instantly if you’re being catfished or not |

"Just a word of warning about live pics on Kik - there are apps to cheat that.

I think in future I’d do that if I thought it was still potentially worth pursuing, but at the time I was very new and didn’t think of it. I’m just glad I never went to “her” hotel, god knows what would have happened.
Speaking for myself, and this may not be everyone’s experience at all, but if a super hot woman is really keen to meet me without much chat or a social, or is too quick to want to swap sexy pics and videos, I assume she’s fake. While there probably are women who would do that, I think they’re in the minority. |

We have been after a regular FB for quite some time now - not having much success but it is not that important in our lives and we are certainly in no hurry.
The pictures on our profile are ours, take them or leave them.
It doesn't matter if we chat for a week, a month or longer, we will not have sex on the first (or sometimes second) meet.
We have to establish some sort of connection, there has to be some sort of attraction and for that reason we always meet in a public environment.
This is pretty much fail safe for us, yes a few weirdo's (liars) have turned up, but we have no idea why because they were not what they said they were and it wasn't as though we were going to say "Ah well, not we expected, but lets have a shag anyway"
We always establish what one another are driving, meet in the car park for introductions to save any embarrassment once inside the public establishment |

"Few more things you can make out from profile itself .
No verification over a year.
Blank profiles
Then we have people saying " we don't have veris because we go to clubs"
Come on, you should have at least one new Veri from a club as many of them are on Fab now and can easily verify you .
"
I never quite get the "you haven't been verified for X amount of time so you're not genuine" argument. I have a few, but don't go to clubs that often, and even when I do go and meet someone, feel a bit awkward asking them to write a review - sorry, verification - afterwards, as if to try and justify myself. If they offer, that's fine of course, and happy to reciprocate. But always just feels a bit forced, and how many times do people really need to verify "yes, he is that person"? |

I’m a firm believer in new technology....
There was something invited call a phone camera that allows people to do video calls....
It’s a simple way to see and speak to someone without leaving your environment in real time...
The caveat is that this service is FREE....
Please explain to me , why using pictures would be a more efficient way of using your time?
This isn’t to judge how anyone vets the people they are meeting.....
I’m just trying to figure out why people are not using technology to make their lives easier..... |

Now that Kik doesn’t have video chat, I (and plenty of others) won’t do video calls because WhatsApp, Skype etc share personal information I don’t want to share. Exactly the same reason I won’t do phone calls. |

Ok , thank you for being honest...... since I went with the approach of sending my number and asking everyone to FaceTime before a meeting....
My swinging life became easier and more successful.... I was just wondering why more people didn’t try this approach... |

Not everyone is sitting with makeup on and hair done looking tidy enough to do a video chat. Different for guys cos they’re ready all the time but like hell would I do a video chat when I’m home in the evening in my pjs chilling with no make up. At least not for a first chat, wouldn’t want to put them off! |

The first point is gold solid advice. The second one...some people use this as a way to obtain personal contacts. Either a mail address, whatsapp contact and so on. There are a number of threads on this site detailing how people got lured on whatsapp, enticed into entertaining a webcam session only for them to be forced into paying a sum of money in order for them to not be exposed. |

Very true ..... but you can always do a quick 2-5 minute video chat in the morning when you are dolled up......
Try to always do a video chat in the day , then people can’t really get sexual....

Can't beat checking verification looking at people they have met etc , easy to see who is genuine and actively making an effort in the scene thats what verification is for isnt it . Wouldnt trust people who hide them or peeople who only have 1 or 2 after being on site over a year. Doesn't take a brain surgeon to work out a fake |

We are genuine but our veri from a couple won’t show as they have hidden their profile whilst in lockdown,
Our other is from club f so is a dead cert but they posted it after lockdown kicked in so the site won’t let us display it just yet |

Thanks x
We seem to be doing alright and have found a few couples who we have clicked with that we will hopefully meet this year
We just feel a little hypocritical when we are asking people for verifications as part of our weening the fakes out process, |
