I had my 5yr health check-up earlier this week and asked for a prostate cancer test. The nurse asked me to make an appointment with the GP and said that it would probably involve a rectal exam. I had one years ago so knew what to expect.
Yesterday morning I prepared myself fully in anticipation, in the same way I do before meeting a man for sex. I was as clean as a whistle and looking forward to my exam. The GP discussed the issues surrounding prostate testing and asked if I was happy for her to do an exam. There was no awkwardness at all and she showed me how she wanted me to lie on the exam couch. I stripped my lower half and got into position.
She was wonderful, told me she was going to use plenty of KY and encouraged me to relax. Her gloved finger slipped in easily and I thought to myself how different it was from the previous experience quite a few years ago.
Back then I'd never had anything in me, but in recent years I've scratched my bi-curious itch and enjoyed sex with men, usually as a bottom.
Consequently I'm very content with being penetrated and in the surgery yesterday I reflected on the journey I'd made. I loved feeling her rotate her finger around my prostate and explain her conclusions about its state. Thankfully all was well.
I couldn't help wondering if she was able to tell that my anus was accustomed to being penetrated. She did remark afterwards on how relaxed I was, in contrast to many men in that situation. We talked about me having the PSA test and she said it would be worth doing as I've just turned 60. She advised me to avoid sex and ejaculation for a week or so before having the test, explaining that the prostate is very sensitive to sexual activity and this can influence the test results.
