Katie had worked in the Office almost as long as me. She had short, almost boyish hair platinum blonde in colour and big blue eyes. She was quite tall and slender with probably C cup boobs. I think she was in her late twenties and she was, and she always had brightly painted, and today they were red.
She lived with a boyfriend, and all the single guys in the Office wished it was them. I certainly liked her although never expected she would become one of my lovers.
I did occasionally have to work with her, but not often, and she was always delightful and had a lovely sweet voice.
I had become aware that she had been absent a bit recently but hadn’t put two and two together, probably because I am a man. Then the other day she announced she was pregnant. All the girls were excited especially, but the men appeared less so, mainly because it would mean she was definitely ‘off the market’.
I said ‘Congratulations’ to her but not much else at that time. She still, had the odd day off for morning sickness, but it did decrease.
People often say that during pregnancy a woman looks ‘glowing’ but personally I had never noticed that but within a week I did start to think that Katie looked sexier than ever. Another week on and she was working with me on a project, and one morning we got stuck in meetings and by the time they finished everyone else in our Department had gone to lunch and were back at their desks.
“Come on Katie lets go and lunch on our own.” And she readily agreed. There wasn’t much food left in the Staff restaurant, but we both found something, in the end, sat down together.
Katie was picking at hers, not really interested.
“Not hungry?” I asked.
“I am, but finding it hard to eat at the moment.”
“Okay. So how is pregnancy going, other than that?”
“Alright, I think, apart from..............” she looked sad as she spoke.
“Apart from what?”
“I probably shouldn’t say anything but my boyfriend isn’t happy that I'm pregnant.”
“Ah. That's not good.”
“Please don’t say anything to anyone else Phil.”
“No of course not. So why isn’t he happy about it?”
“He wanted to wait a few years, so we could have some fun before we had a family.”
“I see.”
“What makes it even worse is that since it was confirmed, I can't believe I am going to tell you this, he hasn't shown me any affection, if you know what I mean?”
“Aha, so you have raging hormones and no way of having them satisfied, so to speak?”
“Precisely. We used to be all over each other, but he won't touch me now.” There were tears in her eyes as she spoke.
“He must be mad. If I was your partner, I wouldn’t be able to keep my hands off you!”
“Ah bless you, Phil.”
“Its true Katie. All the other blokes in the Office are disappointed you're pregnant because to them it means your unavailable. Sorry if that sounds crude.”
“No it’s not crude, I didn't know I was liked that much.”
“You certainly are. I doubt there is a man in the Office who would say “no” to a date with you and that includes the married ones.”
“Oh my god. Really?”
“Yes, really.” She was smiling now.
“What about the ones that aren’t married, but living together?”
“Yes, those as well.”
“Oh, my word so does that include you as well then!”
“To be honest, yes it does. You are a beautiful woman and even more so now.”
“Wow. I'm shocked; you have a stunning girlfriend, Phil.”
“Thank you. Yes I do, and here is where you have to keep a secret, we both have other lovers.” |
