This is my experience while i am working in london.
Me: Hello Ms Eva,
I am BT engineer, i heard your telephone isn't working and you have Internet problem, I came to fix them.
You: Ohh yes please come in. I need urgent and quick fix, do you think you can fix?
Me: I need to first check your line to see whether there is any signal coming through.

Me: Can you tell me where the telephone is please?
You: It is in my bed room. which is to you right. Listen engineer, i am getting late for my shopping so i am going to bath, please fix it and i will come back.
Me: ok Ms Eva, i will crack on with my job.
You: if you need any tools you can find it from the cupboard.
Me: Thanks i got better tools you go and have your shower.
You: ok!
Me: I move in to your bedroom looking for the telephone and I see that you have left few of your dress on the bed, to select to wear it for your shopping.

NO BT engineer works in the external phone network, that work is done by Openreach, that has been the case for the last 10 years. |

Well, see, technically, the BT field engineer and the Openreach field engineer are one and the same, seeing as it was BT before it was Openreach, and they were BT engineers, but then Openreach was created, and they were transferred over to be Openreach engineers.
But the thing is, they aren't allowed to say "BT" any more.
