Simon was obviously dead, reception was informed and the police called. Early indications were he'd died of natural causes in his sleep.
Rebecca was extremely upset and questioned whether he would still be alive if she'd gone back to thier room last night.
I suggested she should contact whoever was funding this weekend and tell them that we would be returning home and not meeting tonight.
The contact phone that had been supplied was nowhere to be found and using my phone to log in she found that UNLOS, all contact and messages had disappeared with him.
The police did question us both at length but as it seemed like a natural death we were allowed to leave and return home.
I drove Rebecca back to Warrington spending the whole journey trying to convince her non of it was her fault and wondering where the contact phone had disappeared to?

It was a couple of weeks later that Rebecca was arrested on the suspicion of murder, another week past and was invited in for an interview.
The police informed me Simon had been suffocated with a pillow and they had cctv images of Rebecca going into the room at 10.30 and leaving an hour later, the time that the coroner said he almost certainly died.
I was willing to give Rebecca a alibi as we were up at Birdlip during that time.
I was also told that a receptionist had identified Rebecca in a line up and the story about dogging as probably a figment of her imagination as there is no evidence to back her story.
By the end of the day because I wouldn't change my story I to was arrested for trying to pervert the cause of justice.

I'm not going to go into great details about the trial but it didn't look to good for Rebecca and me as the prosecution delivered their case.
They said no evidence could be found that a mystery benefactor had funded the weekend, cctv showed Rebecca going into the room at the time Simon died.
The only defence we offered was the fact that we were at Birdlip and fortunately our defence team managed to find one of the guys who attended that was willing to give evidence.
I thought the whole case was in the balance when the jury retired to make their decision, I was preparing myself for a long time in jail.
Fortunately the jury found us both not guilty and we were set free.
My life had bring dragged through the mud during the trial, takes of my swinging had been brought up and I felt I wouldn't be able to return to work for a while so decided to have a holiday to celebrate. |

I decide to visit Lauren in Spain as I'm not sure she's even aware of what has gone on in the last few months and I wanted to tell her all about Simon.
