(True, just this last weekend)
We were staying at a rather period hotel in Bath, for a conference. By "period" I mean could do with a bit of TLC and a lick of paint. Then it would be suitable for an episode of Miss Marple.
Anyhow, on the Saturday night, Nick was not feeling 100% and retired early, so I found myself in another delegate's room (as one does). Had quite a nice time, would have been even nicer if he'd remembered to pack his vitamin V. Lucky that I had readjusted my dress a bit because I walked out of my friend's room straight into the arms of Bath's Best in Blue. Well actually he was in silly fluorescent yellow, but that doesn't sound so good. Wasn't entirely clear what he was up to but nothing to do with me thank goodness.
Anyhow, later in our own room, husband was feeling better and frisky, so just enjoying a canoodle when there was a blood-curdling scream (female) right outside our door. Husband suggested I should apply a towel and investigate.
(Stated reason - if he'd put towel on, it would have stuck out a bit) Ventured forth to perform civic duty, save blood-curdling screamer from fate worse than death etc. - heavens, straight into same policeman again. Plus police lady and hotel night porter, all escorting a woman out of the hotel, who seriously did not want to go.
Discovered later it was a female stalker, who had found out where her ex-boyfriend was holed up with new girlfriend, and was determined they should not have an enjoyable time.
All in all a rather more eventful evening than we were expecting, at a techie conference!
