Jenny had turned 56, married for the last 26 of those years and her life on the edge of the Peak District had become, well, quite mundane.
Was this it for the future, a comfortable life with her husband and all the usual family events but surely there had to be more adventure in her remaining 20 or so years.
In her mind Jenny was still the same young woman who had enjoyed herself in her younger days. She really had, being adventurous with lovers and then continuing to a degree with her husband but as family life had evolved that side of her marriage had fizzled into predictable, lacklustre and infrequent sex.
She found herself wondering if she’d still got it, whatever ‘it’ was.
Now Jenny had always been a strong minded woman and never one to let life get on top of her, she’d always grabbed it with both hands and could honestly say she’d been happy.
One sunny evening she was sat in the garden, her first glass of white wine almost drained and thinking about life. There was no lightbulb moment or catalytic event she just found herself chilled and determined again.
‘You know what,’ she thought to herself, ‘I’m worth more than this. Fuck it, I WANT more than this.’ In that moment she decided she would find out if she still had “it.” |
