So not sure how you spent your Christmas, but i had a trip overseas for the first time since Covid and found myself sharing a house with a bunch of old mates from rugby days.
Almost 25 years ago I played with some guys as the sport went professional, and one had gone home to South Africa and set up a successful business. He has been asking me out there for a few years, and this Christmas I decided to go.
He has a place in Cape Town but we were headed for the edges of the city to his beach house. He had me picked up from the airport and driven out there, and when I arrived it was something. All glass and steel, balconies everywhere looking over the white sand beach and as the car pulled away I was greeted by the housekeeper.
“Mr Venter wanted me to settle you in as he finishes his calls, he will join you at 1500 for drinks on the east terrace. If you follow me I will show you your quarters?”
I followed him to a suite of rooms - huge bed, living area and shower the size of a whole bathroom which led onto a sun deck with sofas and what looked like an outdoor bed complete with mosquito nets. Two weeks here was not going to be a hardship
“The fridge is stocked with what Mr Venter told me where you preferred drinks, and that phone connects to the kitchen - if you give them 30 minutes notice anything is possible, but if it’s just a quick snack they will have it ready quickly. That phone connects you to my rooms insta fly if you need anything please don’t hesitate”
He left, and I went straight to the fridge - 32 degree heat was tough for an Irish man! Beer in hand, I wandered out to the sun deck and sat, looking over what was two beaches - long golden sand on the right, and white sand, palm trees and white boulders to the left! Paradise!
As 1500 got closer, I was struck by how busy the beaches were, but the one on my left was harder to see - people seemed to move between the rocks and trees but it was further away so harder to see. That said, the view to the right was more than enough.
It seemed that everywhere I looked where beautiful people, men and women of all ages tanned and healthy running on the beach, throwing balls around, in and out of the water and everyone of them a picture of health, and a picture I was playing close attention to!
At exact up 1500, my old mates voice boomed out - “Paddy Mack” and he walked onto the terrace; greyer around the temples, but still in good shape we hugged and fell into our old banter about rugby, food, music and it on was like old times.
“Listen the other guys are going to be a few days late but that’s ok I have a few things lined up for us - few wine farms, tour around the business in town and Stormers are playing and we have a box - going to be a blast!”
“Great I’m ready to go now I’ve had a quick beer”
The housekeeper hovered and Brendan waved him in, listened and shook his head to send him away.
“Always something” he grinned at me “ might have to do another call but there’s something else I wanted to let you know” he said, but was interrupted as the housekeeper came back in an d was waved over to talk again
As they talked, a sudden noise outside in the street made me look over the edge of the sun deck. A group of people had gathered, looking like they had come from the beach and even two stories up I could smell the sun oil! And what a group, 3 women and 4 guys, all early twenties and everyone the type of person you see in movies on the beach. Perfect tan, bodies sculpted and hair perfect- the women had bodies like goddess’s.
“Mate, sorry I’m going to have to go back into town for a meeting - thought I had fixed something but it’s not right. You want to come in and I’ll have someone show you around?”
I barely heard him as I watched one of the women adjust her barely there bikini bottom, moving the string between her deep brown ass cheeks slightly out of the crack with a long, slow sweep of her hand.
“No mate, you go I’m ok here - don’t worry about it these things happen”
I turned back to the street but the group had broken up as the guys headed up the street - I couldn’t see the women but could hear them chatting but they had moved almost under the canopy by the gates to the garden so that all I could see where the tops of the heads. One blonde and two dark hair, each with their perfect and glistening boobs almost spilling out of the bikini tops.
“Oh, and that thing I was going to tell you?”
He said as the housekeeper returned with jacket, keys and laptop bag and I noticed a car as it pulled up to the gates which had made the women move now completely out of sight
“My niece is still here, sorry - she was supposed to leave yesterday but one of her friends broke up with her boyfriend so they missed their lift home and will be here for a few more days. They are a bit noisy but they don’t in get in the way ad have their own part of the house just by the pool so you
probably won’t see them at all. Let Mr Hanson here - he pointed at the Housekeeper - know if they are a problem? Got to go!”
And he left, smiling and waving at me and then reappearing at the gate to jump into the BMW that had pulled up. I gave him a wave as he headed off, and noticed the three women now in the garden, and they looked up from directly below my
Sun deck.
I took a step backwards and heard one say
“Is that him”
And the reply “yeah, my uncle said he was coming and we needed to treat him well, they go way back and Uncle Brendan says he’s a great guy”
“The Irish one? I love that accent, it makes me……”
