Zoe and The Breakdown (Part One)
It had been a crap year for Zoe so far. The break up with her fiancé had come out of nowhere at Christmas and all through the first six months of the year life had become an endless cycle of work, sleep, work, pay bills, sleep. She’d stayed in the flat they’d rented and managing it on her own was leaving her with almost no money until pay day, so even a drink with friends was out of the question. The only highlight of the summer coming was that she could finally cut down on the heating bills.
In fact, Zoe was starting to feel more herself, that weekend she had time off so decided, although money was tight she would get some summer clothes. She’d lost some weight and was starting to feel good about her body. Her long red/brown hair was now past her shoulders and her hips, still big but now defined by a small waist made her the definition of a PAWG and she was gonna rock it. She shopped sensibly at Primarni and then on her way out of shop she saw some tiny thongs and g strings. Mix and match. They were pastel colours and Zoe had always been a black or white underwear kind of girl when she was with her ex. She swooped them up. Her new wardrobe all in bags she went back to her car and turned the ignition. Nothing. Nada. Failure to launch. There she was stuck in a car park on the edge of town, in her old rust bucket and now it wouldn’t even start. She burst into tears. Regretting immediately that she had bought the clothes. As she was reaching for the phone a gentle tap on the window came and there outside the car was a stunning good looking black guy. He smiled as she went to roll the window down, but it wouldn’t work. She opened the door slightly. ‘You okay? Sounds like your battery has gone’ he said. Zoe was unsure. Her sense of danger had kicked in as soon as a man had appeared at her window. ‘No matter how good looking he can still be a butter’ she thought to herself. Then he gestured to his shirt. The logo of one of the breakdown services was on it and he gestured to his van which was parked a little way to the right of Zoe’s. ‘I’m off duty but can’t have a lady stuck in the car crying can I?’ He flashed his smile again and Zoe laughed.
‘I’m sure we can get you started in a minute or two. Can you pop the bonnet?’ He asked. Zoe burst out laughing ‘I’ve no idea where it is’ she said as she opened the car and stepped out.
‘ Hi I’m Marcus ‘ her gallant mechanic stated and she shook his hand. ‘Zoe and I’m crap with cars’ she said. Now it was the turn of Marcus to laugh ‘Let’s have a look at her shall we? See what’s going on’
Marcus leaned in and Zoe couldn’t help but check out his muscular torso and iron cheeked bum. Maybe this was a lucky day. |
