A month or so pre-Covid I was on one of those long 3 day work conferences, the only bonus being the 5* countryside hotel and free booze; less good being the seminars and having to talk to old guys...
Most of our talks on Day 1 had been ok and the one thing separating me from the bar was a seminar with a break out group. This was going to be our same group for the rest of the conference; luckily I knew a few of the girls from previous gatherings. There was one who caught my eye... but I could see a ring on his finger which reminded me of the one on mine, no harm in window shopping I thought and the thought drifted out of my mind. My 3 friends, all just over 5', sent a quick message round to the new WhatsApp group asking for everyone's orders. It didn't take long for orders to rush through, who turns down free booze? I returned to my seat next to him in the booth, little grins on both our faces. The conversation and booze was flowing round the table, our legs were pressed against each other.
