BoJo can take a jump...!
No, I think it must be those who are registered at the Embassy as staying locally.
They wouldn't know how to contact those who live abroad.
But then again, Big Brother could be watching...

We’re in two minds just now. But if we go back to the Uk for a bit how do we get back for any paperwork.
What a fucking great time to start up a bar lol |

"What, even if you live here?
I'd guess only if you don't have residency.
"
We don’t have that as we have only been here 9 weeks. You need to wait 12 weeks before you apply for Residency. |

It is...hence the messages on your UK phone when you arrive regarding consulate assistance...as well as those annoying rate advice ones!
The Spanish just used their equivalent to issue a 'recall' notice to their citizens abroad.

Perhaps, since the UK is no longer part of the EU, the health service is not obliged to treat you if you fall ill.
I would imagine that the country is worried about being able to cope with the potential numbers of elderly victims to this virus and of course for Brits the EHIC
is no longer valid. |

So, from CAB Spain:
"there is no obligation to return to the UK. If you are comfortable following the containment measures here in Spain and you do not wish / need to travel back to the UK (as a non resident) then you do not need to."
Which I'm sure is good news and clarifies the mixed messages in the media yesterday.
Secondly, the EHIC is still valid until 1/1/2021 - or longer if the transition period is extended. Though not valid once you get residency (the Spanish version is TSE, if entitled to it).
