"Airport closed. Flights diverted or turned back. Some had to do u turns. More landed malaga and faro. Predicted to last days. Thoughts with those affected."
Yeah got to feel sorry for them that left gatwick around 2pm and landed back at gatwick around 8pm .

Here in Tenerife really bad also, carnaval cancelled in Santa Cruz since last night till further notice, both airports closed since last night and now reading that big shopping malls also closed for safety reasons. Last night driving back from the club was really scary with this hard wind. They say it stays till Monday/Tuesday.  never have witnessed this in the 21 years we live in Tenerife. Hope everyone is save..... |

"Flight has been cancelled from Stansted. Was supposed to go at 10.30am but They had a ATC delay till 2pm. Just been told flight is cancelled till tomorrow now. "

Will own up I work for jet2 lol. They are possibly shutting down tenerife as well now. Think the have 6 planes still in malaga waiting to get into GC! Air traffic control has put massive restrictions in that area and also it would be dangerous to the planes to fly through it  |

Indeed it is. Had a wander round the block from our temporary hotel. Still very windy especially in exposed areas and the air is so loaded with sand it’s making you blink continuously if walking into the wind. Also the air is very hot and of course you cant see more than about 400metres! |

Total contrast to normal. Distinct lack of anything in skies that are usually full of planes at this hour. Only ones in the area are high up above the sand and going elsewhere! |

It appears the worst should be over by Monday night. There are so many cancelled flights for Saturday,
Sunday and potentially Monday that delays rebooking inevitable. We are with easyJet and they have up giving accommodation so we rented another apartment in Maspalomas for another week and will get plane back next saturday. Not ideal with family and work commitments but it’s an island with limited flight routes. We could get home Thursday with three flights over 21 hours for £800 each but don’t see the point to get home a day earlier in effect.
Looking forward to some more sun Monday onwards |

There has just been a couple on BBC news, in GC and they have said Jet2 aren't flying until tomorrow. They took them to the airport Saturday and they were there for 9 hours, then took them back to resort. They were given good vouchers, but they ran out of food at the airport, so something to be mindful of, when you go. Hope you get away tomorrow |

That's confusing, maybe the airport haven't updated their information, not helpful is it? |

Flight radar 24 definitely shows planes landing and taking off from LPA in then on usual north to south direction and the sky is brighter with good visibility and only high up grey cloud and even some blue sky is visible. However airline website still says no planes today and tomorrow’s schedule to be published by noon.... |

I wonder why Jet2 aren't flying today. No doubt planes will be in the wrong place, but that's the same for all airlines.

Just looked in Flight Radar (app). Flights appear as normal, lots from UK and northern Europe en route to GC Fuerteventura and Tenerife and leaving too so don't worry. |

My friends fly with jet2 from tenerif to belfast .. will fly only tomorrow no time giving yet . They got tex from jet 2 that evernight hotel will be sorted ..nothing was sorted ... friends just booked hotel for 1 night themself .. x |

I can confirm all airports are now open and operating as normal, the last 2 days have been exceptional nothing seen like this for the last 10 years. Fortunately for me Fuerteventura was probably the least effected strangely we are the nearest island to the African coast and many planes were diverted here before going on to the other islands. |
