"Where best would you recommend for a single guy , any clubs etc open during the day also ?"
No clubs open during the day but there is a cinema in basement of Cita centre, I think open from 1pm to 1 am. You can pay and then come and go during that time. A variety of clubs to try except the Gatsby club, which is couples only.
