Abora Catarina Hotel ...nudist sun terrace ?

Hi ,we're looking at hotels for next month in Gran Canaria and wondered if anyone has any reviews regarding the ' Abora Catarina 'as we believe it had a naked sun terrace before it's refit & wondered if this is still the case ?.
We've stayed twice in 'The princess Tabaiba ' & the ' Servatur Waikiki 'so fancy something different .  |

We are currently at the Catarina and have just come off the sun roof. We have managed to get a sunbed everyday no matter what time of day we have gone up. Our first visit since the refurb (5th/6th stay in total) and think it's superb. |

Is nude sunbathing still ok ?.

Okay but food definitely not as good as Tabaiba. Refurbishment make it cafeteria like. Good location
.Nudist roof fine. Get a early return flight because you will be lucky to get a late check out and courtesy room a joke. Location is what this hotel has going for it.

We stayed there in January and September this year, a very nice hotel and the nude roof terrace is great, especially if it is very windy and you can't be bothered getting sand blasted on the beach 
Also the added bonus of being all inclusive and you can take your drinks up there 
Only thing letting it down is the entertainment so you just need to find other things to do in an evening, but the location is perfect for that
We have stayed at the Tabiba a few times as well and really like that too, we are booked up to go back there again next time. |

Tabaiba food was nice but after a couple of stays we've become bored with it & our January visit was like a holiday with the cast of 'waiting for god'.

A roof terrace to chill out on all day & finding our own entertainment at night (love an evening in the Imagine bar with Tonny & Saskia)so never do hotel entertainment usually it's too vanilla lol.

Great, I am sure you will enjoy it there and only a 2-3 min walk to imagine bar.
BTW, the entertainment is actually very good on a Monday as it is when the in-house animation team have their day off ....they hire in a pro act and the two we have seen were both fantastic.
The animation team do clearly put a lot of effort into their shows but it is just not our thing. |

We are looking for a winter break as we had to cancel our October holiday due to illness. Looking at Corallejo but seeing this hotel and the nude terrace puts this in the running as we have been to Pdi before . |

Stayed here four times now. Rooms good , the location to cita excellent ,, but .. the food is terrible . Couldn't class it as good on past visits but now if it warm your lucky. The choice compared to other hotels is abysmal. Can't believe this is supposedly a 4 star.
We travel with tui several times a year and although standards vary, this has got to be the worst.
The place is very 1970 cafertera, and that's after the reverb.Sad to say time to try another hotel. |

We stayed there a couple of years ago, before the refurbishment. Went all inclusive, only to find that not everything is included! We wanted a slice of cheesecake from the ice cream bar, but were told we had to pay for it. We went to look at the poolside bar menu for lunch one day .... guess what, not included. Wanted an ice tea .. not included. Also not included were the safe and wifi, and if I remember rightly you had to pay for pool towels.
We also found the entertainment really annoying as it was so loud and on when we were wanting to have our pre-club siesta after a day on the beach.
Wouldn't stay there again. |

We've just returned and found it great. Roof terrace is fantastic and the drinks options are great. Food for us was perfect, fish, meat and vegetables Every day.
We're booking up to return next year in March. |

Hi thanks for the message, i am concentrating on getting better and waiting for another test but am feeling quite a bit better . No we havent decided where to go yet after planning months in advance for the cancelled holiday we are just going to see which is the best deal between the two about 2/3 weeks before we can go. |

When the refurbishment was being carried out last time, things were looking up. Hence the return. And ,let's face it the big plus is proximity to cita. . We,be only just got back, and never again. |

We stay there regular and never had any problems with the food to be honest
There isn’t much turn around I must admit but you can always make a decent meal out of what is there
Plenty of wine ..sangria....beer with your evening meal....lol
Loads of breakfast choice too

Home late last night after two great weeks and have booked again this morning already for next year as we spoke with three other couples (from the hotel not from on here) who like us thought there was nothing to complain about and are booking straight away. So hopefully you will enjoy and rooms are going quite quick for next year already. |
