Car hire on GC. If the weather is not good and believe me it isn't always sunny as anyone out here for the last week will tell you lol and you hire a car be careful as some firms hit you with high excess charges and claims where you are liable to pay for small scratches. Excess charges can add up to over €2000 So they charge you for cdw and want you to take extra insurance to cover the excess charges. DON'T DO IT. hire a car from CICAR CAR HIRE who will let you pay in cash with cdw included and you don't need a credit card. It cost us €230 for a 2 week hire of a brand new seat Leon 1.4 4door with a.c. including all insurance and cdw and no charge for petrol as you leave it as you found it. A much better experience than when we were here in Sept 17 when we hired a car from sixt. They wanted to hold a payment of €1100 euros although I paid extra for excess waiver insurance. Hi topcar are also very reliable and honest. Have an office in arrivals hall at Las Palmas Airport also an office in PDI just booked for 12 days in Feb / March for a vw polo €162. Have used them numerous times.

AutoReisen ( not top car AutoReisen) are easily the best hire car co in the Canaries. ( as reccomended by Which). We have used them many times on GC and F. Always reliable cars, low prices, quick q’s at check in, cars v close by, no hidden extras !

no credit card needed with CICAR as they take cash which it clearly says when you order the car. We paid cash with no deposit

We are just two genuine holidaymakers who had a great experience with CiCar car hire after a poor experience with sixt and its good to hear there are other carhire firms who dont try and rip you off.

CICAR or AUTOREISEN are the best.

I travel arund every canary islands many times and never problems with both

CICAR AND AUTOREISEN seem to be the best. CICAR is payment by cash or card with no deposit full insurance and no extras, and prices seem to be good for all the cars they have

Was impressed with CICAR when we went to La Gomera and alsi Tenerife. On ine trip picked up a dent but wasn't, no extra to pay. Would definitely use them again.

We used Topcar Autoreisen in February. Had a flawless service.

Always take my time with photos and get them to look at damage before I go.

The 2 worst car rental firms ever are Inter Rent and Goldcar. Rent from either of these in any country and you WILL be scammed.

Always find top car excellent with great pricing they were originally tied in with Autoreisen but are now on their own. Normally get free upgrades as we rent 4 or 5 times a year.

Also have an office in PDI as well as the airport main hall.

Agree with you booked Gold car some years ago total rip off on extras. They were acquired by Europcar at the end of 2017 so don't know if policies have changed / improved

Cicar is definately the best car hire company on the Canary Islands, we have used them a lot. They have offices at the airport and all over the Island.

We have always used Autoplus car rental for GC and Lanzarote.

They are based on far side of the car park outside departures so a 5 minute walk away but never any queues and 5 mins to do paperwork before driving away. Dropping off is even quicker as you just park up and drop the keys.

Price for 7 days from 12th April was €56. No deposit, no block on a credit card, no extra charges or additional insurance. Only ever pay the price they quote. Fuel policy is return with same amount in but we have only ever paid to put more fuel in once or twice as the fuel gauge never seems to move!! Used them about 12 times in the last 2 years and always been happy with them.

I think CICAR are on the mainland as well as the Canaries now. You can pay in cash, no deposit and full insurance. And not expensive with no hidden extras.

We only use them now when we can as other hire firms rip you off.
