Hi, has anybody received a text yet from Ryanair cancelling your flight? Seen in the news that they are cancelling 50-60 flights a day for the next 6 weeks ,and it looks like they are giving very short notice!! Don't know how we would be fixed for compo as we have paid for our accommodation already! Anybody got any info on this?
Cheers, Fabbers! |

No doubt a few Spanish flights will be affected but, from what I've seen so far, most seem to be flights to some of the lass popular destinations.
Also bear in mind that Ryanair have 2500 flights per day so 50/60 cancellations is a very small percentage and you would be very unlucky to be affected. |

My wife is on her way to Luton now for the Murcia flight at 17.40. Not heard of any cancellations. I know that there are reduced flights to Murcia throughout the winter but that happens every year. |

We will keep an eye out and give her a wave as she flies over our house. |

We read that people have been given 48 hours notice and of course that does not give enough time to find alternative flights or accommodation. Ryanair have admitted that they are cancelling as they have a back log of holidays that flight crew have to take, so leave aircraft on the ground as there punctuality has gone down to 80% in the last 4 weeks!
Fingers crossed xxx |

"Think they will only be cancelling the cheep £29 flights so we should be ok"
Not exactly, some friends of ours had their Malaga flight back to Leeds cancelled a few hrs before departure earlier this week & were told to rebook, but the earliest they could rebook was this coming Monday. Ended up getting a Jet2 flight to East Midlands 3 days later, with their car at Leeds. No help forthcoming whatsoever from Ryanair. |

They are obliged to rebook you on an alternative airline / pay compensation if the fault is theirs. Hence their bleating about ATC strikes in Europe.
Statutory compensation for cancellations is €250 for short haul and more for mid haul (guess Uk to Greece would qualify). More than 3 hours delay compensation starts at €200. |

Apparently most of their pilots aren't actually employees but are 'contractors' - Norwegian Airlines has been offering proper jobs and lots of Ryanair pilots have defected. So possibly not entirely down to a new holiday schedule. |
