Playa del Ingles....shopping question

Here's a question. I hate having to lug all the toiletries, sun creams etc with me. Also, on short trips, I try to go with hand luggage only, so I'm bound by the 100ml bottle limit....so...is there anywhere in PDI that sells toiletries at reasonable, close to Hight street prices, as opposed to rip off the tourist prices? I always end up leaving them behind anyhow, to make room for gifts etc

If you always end up leaving them in resort why not buy your toiletries from Boots in departures at the UK airport The 100 ml rule only applies as you go through security and if you purchase on your way through to the boarding gates you just pop them in your hand luggage. There are plenty of shops where you can get toiletries etc in GC so that's another option but you might not have the same brand choices. Have a great time when you go. Am heading out myself in April.

We have a "Drop Box"

Our Guests leave all the things they can't take with them in the Box

And others come over to get out what they need

May be that would help you out

Lot's of suncream and other need things

Of course for free

Really? Wow, now that is a great idea....I just left mine in the room and didn't know if the cleaners took them, or they went in the bin.

Shows there really is a Swinging 'Community'....

Back to your original question.

In PDI / Maspalomas you can find lot of shops, but its true that prices are somehow higher then in real hypermarket.

We are renting always car in Gran Canaria on the airport. Rent for a week is roughly equal to taxi to the airport and back.

And on the way to Maspalomas we stop in HUGE hypermarker Carrefour roughly half way.

Prices there are some 25 to 35% lower then prices in shops in PDI / Maspalomas.

For cava, vine and bier prices are some 50% lower in some cases.

Adress is :Calle Adargoma, s/n, 35110 Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Las Palmas, Spain

Two Mercadona supermarkerts more cheap than the rest of shops for food, drinks and cosmetics. One in El Tablero(close up to Sonneland) and the other close to Eternity club in Galdar avenue.

In Alcalde Enrique Jorge street(close the Maspalomas police station)are one Lidl, german supermarket, with very cheap products but some with a poor quality.

Enjoy your holidays!

Do you pre book your car rental or just use whoever is there ?

If you do pre order which rental company would you recommend?

I hired a car in Marbella last year the insurance cost as much as the car!!!!..Martin Lewis did an article about insurance on car hire abroad..interesting reading...upshot was that you don't need it..but the hire firms insist on it??..

I didn't check for abroad but following guide on Martin Lewis' site, I purchased an insurance policy for short trip to England..was literally only a fiver and covered all eventualities..Collision Damage Waiver etc His advice was thoroughly check car on pickup and return...take pics etc insist on accompanied inspection.

Some great info re shops etc..thanks everyone. 6 more sleeps
