San Fernando, Gran Canaria

One of the right wing newspapers published a story Brit tourists told to get a life holidaying in Spain. Sounds like anti tourism.

If you read the article it was just an arbitrary comment made by one Brit to another about fighting over sun loungers.

In itself a not a story worth writing about unless the follow up story is .... and then she said can you pass the salt.

The press are churning out headlines that just give and impression that something is happening when it isn't.

People in Spain have a problem with recent law changes which favour tourism over the people who live there. They aren't against tourists they are against the new laws.

But a story about Spanish locals having a problem with law changes doesn't get as many clicks as Spanish are Xenophobic.

There is no anti tourism sentiment here. To the contrary the street sweepers are up at 3am every morning to PROMOTE tourism.
