PDI pretty disappointing
Jump to: Newest in thread
Having just had our first visit to pdi have to say we was quite disappointed really, maybe it was a quiet time of of year, and although we did meet some nice couples while we was there the quality of the clubs wasn’t really that great, the weekend admittedly was pretty busy with locals but during the week was pretty quiet, also the make up of the bars being inside isn’t that attractive, we like to be outside when on holiday! The beach front didn’t have to many lively bars apart from the tipsy hammock, and kiosk 7 was a hell of a walk either down the beach or over the dunes, the yumbo was quite fun although mainly for gay men we had a couple of fun nights at Ricky’s cabaret bar, we hired a car for the day and even the beaches further afield wasn’t that impressive either, has anyone else come away feeling rather underwhelmed? Or is it completely different in October/November when apparently its much more busier ?
FYI anyone going we can highly recommend the gold hotel was a really nice place to stay |

Cita Centre can be a let down, it really does need renovating, but we do visit the bars on aoccasuins. We prefer to stay at Venus Star and have our play during the day and then go out for dinner in the evening.
If we do head to the clubs, we goto Moonlight Dreams in Nilo Centre, starts earlier, opening at 9pm, not so many English so if that's what you are looking g for perhaps it won't work for you. PDI has a lot of different things to offer, it's just finding what works for you. An evening in Melanoras for dinner in one of the outdoor restaurants, is far preferable to a night inside Cita for us.
We have been in October, and didn't enjoy it, we prefer March, September and Xmas & New Year which has a better mix of nationalities. |

Yes, at the moment it's a bit quieter and most people are at the gay pride in the yumbo center. September and October is absolutely a better time. Nevertheless, the bar and club operators try to do the best they can. If you of course have wishes or ideas for changes, talk to us and the others so that we can continually improve with you. Greetings, Team 69 |

Our 1st trip to PDI was in June 2016 we’ve been every year since (except COVID) and even tho the 1st time we went it wasn’t the season we stil throughly enjoyed ourselves. We try and go mainly in May & October but have been early December last year- being over busy can be too much we’re happy with either way. We always meet like minded others. It like life in general you can’t please everyone but just make the most of it
To the OP you did well Walking to K7
We only get as far as K3 which is just as fun
our turn is next week. And we can’t wait. |

we just got back from 2 weeks there. Our first time in April.... it was quiet and the weather couldn't make up it's mind what it wanted to do... September into October is the best time and over NYE. But Cita could definitely do with one or two more classier meeting bars. |

I suppose it all depends on what you are looking for and what your expectations are along with previous experiences to compare things with.
We've been going for the last 10 years or so at different times of year and each time has been different, quiet, busy, too busy...we've made lifelong friends there and have travelled there as just a couple or a group of friends. Stated at swinging resorts and vanilla family hotels in all kinds of areas of the resort. Some places are lovely, some are really run down and seedy...we find the juxtaposition of ordinary family places with overtly sexual places quite stunning at times...
One thing we have always done since first discovering the place is do the groundwork first...have a look around, see who's going at the same time, reach out to people, get chatting especially if they have different experiences than us...it's always a learning opportunity and things change out there so quickly...clubs and bars come and go...
My partner is far better at it than I am but he's already in WhatsApp and kik groups for people going in October when we're booked and we have timed it so we're out at the same time as many of our friends.
We like to have a balance between swinging and other things...if you're looking for classy, PDI isn't really it...but we always come home with faces aching from laughing and stories to tell. It us what it is...it's not for sone people...world would be boring if we all liked the same things

Thank you all for your replies, maybe we will try again later in the year. Was just a little too quiet for us in places. We loved the Yumbo centre for entertainment and found a couple of places that were lovely to eat at.
Cita just wasn’t for us, some of the clubs looked amazing but had no one in there.
We met a few couples which made our holiday a good laugh |

Yes, thats true but more important is, you are with the right people around you. Try Route 69 or all the other Clubs and bars too. Our clients (Friends) always make a round in different bars. |

Exactly this, although sometimes it's worth staying in an empty bar as it will soon fill up. Let people come to you rather than chasing round. Never sit at an empty table if there's others talk to them.

We've been going 3 times a year since 2016 our last visit was October after lockdown ended.
We always had great fun out there but we did get a little bored with the limited bars and entertainment. Granted it has a good selection of clubs and adult themed bars.
However, we decided to change to Tenerife (April & Nov) and Benidorm (June) and haven't regretted it.
Many more lively bars with entertainment thrown in and swinging is just as easy to meet couples, singles etc.
Only one club Mystique and swing respectively but we mainly use bars and then go back to ours or someone else's hotel/apartment.
We're not saying don't go PDI, just information that there are other places to visit for fun fun fun xx
Enjoy wherever you holiday xx

If you don't know where to go, what to look for, anywhere new can be daunting tbh. We're on our third visit to GC, staying in Maspalomas, only a 10 min walk to kiosk7. OK, Cita is a 45 minute walk, but it's a very pleasant energising walk and we're 60+. An €8 taxi ride back. We have had our best evenings at Secret and Tantra, but that's only our personal preference. Now it's 01:20 and we've just has the most ridiculously OTT evening at Tantra. Thank you everyone |

The Cita Centre can look and feel like a Willy Wonka experience gone wrong, but that can be its attraction.
Problem is, you will never know who is going there and in what quality.
You say you liked the Yumbo, plenty of show style bars, and people watching. Opposite of Cita.
You could go in October and nit be able to get a seat in any place due to it being so busy with swingers, bears and fetishism.
It can be hit and miss, but people still go back |

Perhaps Cap D'Age might suit better?

Currently in the Cita having walked up from Maspalomas. Then we're walking down to the Riu Palace and then along the beach to the Faro.
PS Secret was rammed on Saturday night, but as always its pointless going before 11:30. |

Agree to some points!
We have been around 4 or 5 times now. The meet bars in Cita are not great to be honest, This is because Cita is pretty run down and lacks a bit of class. We now generally go and explore other non swingers bars and love watching live bands and being outdoors if the weather allows and then head to a club later in the evening.
Weekends in the clubs are def busier! Secrets is always busy on Fri/Sat nights whenever we have been in, however we find the music a bit to hardcore and loud! Peaches & Cream has a classy feel to it and as long as there is a good turnout in there, that would be the club of choice!
Being busy is also not always the best option in our opinion. Research the clubs/bars and other couples who are there at the same time before you go is a good idea, then mix it up when you’re out there, relax and enjoy your holiday without having expectations! Xx |

We do use the taxis, usually at the end if the evening. They've gone up a bit since 2022. Everything else is really cheap now compared to the rip off that is the UK |

"We are going late July early August for a week, hopefully plenty of fun, any advice appreciated ?? "
Stay hydrated and cover you head and neck - a lot of people get heat stroke at this time of year.
Beware of thin material shirts and umbrellas. You can still get sunburned through them at this time of year.
If you go to the beach, flip flops are essential for the dry sand which becomes very hot.

PDI is one of the safest holiday destinations in the world. We do hear of the occasional crime but it's rare. We have three police forces who have a strong presence in town.
An example of how safe it is, is that some of our street cleaning people are female and start work at 3am and work alone. |

Can confirm...was torture walking out through the dunes to kiosk 4 some years ago...I'd go as far as recommending closed shoes as volcanically hot sand gets in your flip flops too! I was moaning and not in a good way! |

"Excellent! That’s what our plan is, just never ventured that route yet.. visit or two scheduled in for October!"
Just a heads up though... the newest shopping center to be built in PDI will be constructed in the vacant lot next to the Nilo Center. They are planning to start in September so there may be disruptions to the roadworks. We will keep all our customers updated on anything that affects them.
In the long run it puts Nilo in a good position in terms of nearby eating places, increased taxi presence etc. We are very excited by this news and hope it keeps to the proposed timelines |

We were in PDI a month ago and whilst it wasn’t as busy as Sept/Oct, there was a good number of likeminded folks to be found.
Completely agree with the earlier contributor who said that clubs and bars being busy doesn’t guarantee a good night. We were fortunate to meet lovely couples who were great company in every sense. Ours was a flying four day, three night trip but on each night we went to The Comeback Bar in the (admittedly horrendously tacky) Cita where we chatted with lots of people and took the temperature of where was best to head to in terms of clubs. This worked really well for us.
We only got as far as Peaches & Cream, Fun4All and Secrets and even though they are very different we had a great time in all of them.
Classy PDI is not. It’s a destination with generally great weather, likeminded people, great nude beaches and a few decent swingers bars and clubs. From those ingredients it’s usually easy to have a good time, but that’s if you’re looking for that recipe. If you’re after fine dining then it is possibly not for you.
Having been a few times, there is definitely something a little addictive to the place - so we’ll be there again in October! |

"Having just had our first visit to pdi have to say we was quite disappointed really, maybe it was a quiet time of of year, and although we did meet some nice couples while we was there the quality of the clubs wasn’t really that great, the weekend admittedly was pretty busy with locals but during the week was pretty quiet, also the make up of the bars being inside isn’t that attractive, we like to be outside when on holiday!
FYI anyone going we can highly recommend the gold hotel was a really nice place to stay "
Our first trip was in June 2022 and we used Fab to arrange groups to meet in the bars in the Cita centre. We'd normally all go to one club, but sometimes two.
The Yumbo has some great places to get drinks, the Peppermint Bar and the Secret Garden are our favourite two.
One the way to the Cita Centre you've got Route 69 and Peaches & Cream as potential stop-offs. We've had great fun in Peaches & Cream and we've missed loads in Route 69.
Yes the Cita itself is a little tired, but we weren't expecting a 5 star experience anyway, it is primarily a shopping centre after all.
Some places, like Venus and La Mirage, have day passes and you can try them out before you arrange a stay. There are normally posts on the Fab Forum or "Meets" about who's going where, when.
Don't forget the other bars/clubs too. There's Sweet Moments and the 2x2 club in the Sandia Centre right next to Gold. They might prove to be more your thing.
We hope you enjoy you next trip |

Back to OPs original question, was it underwhelming? Perhaps that just depends on your own personal expectations. We went for the first time last year. Beginning of September. We came back with very mixed feelings.
From a swinging perspective, quite disappointed. Seemed as though the whole scene was aimed towards full swap couples which is not what we do. So we played just once in a week (Thanks Eden for single guy nights!) We did, however, meet and socialise with some lovely couples there.
Another disappointment for us was the lack of “club wear” amongst the swinging community there. Mrs does like to get dressed up. Lingerie, heels etc. but everyone else seemed to be in summer dress and flip flops! Could have been holidaying anywhere in the world. Not what we expected in a swinger environment.
But, despite Cita being a bit dreary, once we were in the bars or clubs that was forgotten.
We found the lack of private rooms in the clubs to be a let down too (again with the exception of Eden unless we missed something). Just because we are swingers doesn’t mean we particularly want to be fucking in front of the entire club. Some do, but some don’t.
If you don’t like seafood, then something and chips it is. But that’s Spain generally I think.
However, if nothing else, we got a great all over tan. All day every day at kiosk 7, 25 degrees and a lovely walk to and from across the dunes. We had a great break from work, met some lovely people and experienced new things.
So we are booked to go back. October this year. Hoping it will be busier and there will be more solo males there. But now we know what to expect and if nothing else we will have a week in the sun. |

"Who's Near" is a great way to meet single guys in PDI. There's also the cinema but we thought the quality of guys wasn't great.
There are lots of great restaurants, but they tend to be a lot more hidden than the "all day English breakfast" places. |

If you don’t like seafood, then something and chips it is. But that’s Spain generally I think.

El Poncho is a fantastic steakhouse and classy as they come
SaWaDee is a fantastic Thai
SakuraIII is great if you like sushi
Plenty of top class restaurants all well covered here in the forums |

Thank you. We did the “who’s near” thing but solo males were extremely thin on the ground. I suspect we just went a little too early in the season as even in Eden on the solo males nights there were literally only 2 or 3. We do think about the cinema but Mrs couldn’t pluck up the courage as had never been to one. However, might give it a go this year as we have since been to A&S and she loved it!
As for the restaurants, I’ll do a bit more research this time. |

Thank you. As I said, perhaps our expectations were the issue rather than the place itself. Only had a week there and I guess we just being a bit lazy expecting the better restaurants to jump out at us. We will definitely do more research for our return in October. And if all else fails, chips and salad it is! |

I think PDI is a bit like Glastonbury - there's a huge variety of different things to try, but you have to find the ones that work for you.
If you're into single guys, then Secrets can be worth a visit - they have a separate single guys area but at one point it's only separated by bars, so a woman standing too close will be groped by many hands at once. And if you're brave enough to go in to that area, you can take your pick and take them to a private room.

I don't know if they are already mentioned in the forums but restaurants that we've found really good are:
* The Italian opposite the Eiffel tower entrance to Cita.
* Wapa Tapa ,(Tapas) Yumbo
* La Candela, again Yumbo, opposite Wapa. Really tasty, Spanish & Italian.
* Steakhouse in Faro 2 centre. Fine range of food including steaks and Swordfish.
* Chino Canton, at Melonares.

Yes, Secrets can be quite intense with all the groping, but can be great fun ! |

"You could just go to a good hotel and be all inclusive "
But they said they want good food!
I'd add to the list:
Kilometre 00 - upmarket pasta hidden in the Cita
El Rustico - Small place near La Mirage doing unusual tapas
Samsara - fusion restaurant near the Charca des Maspalomas. Worth going just for the way the restaurant is decorated.
For both Wapa Tapas and El Rustico you will always need a reservation. |

We love PDI and the Cita Centre. Have been going for several years and keep returning. Met some top people and had great fun. Many a good night in Comeback and Fun4all. 11 minutes walk from Gold. Will be back in September cannot wait |

The best restaurants don't need people outside dragging you in, they will definitely require reservations so popping into a restaurant last minute isn't going to be the best experience, of course you can be lucky and we have been on numerous occasions.

"Secrets can be quite intense with all the groping, but can be great fun !"
Secret wasn't quite so busy last night so we were able to venture into the single man zone without risking life and limb, and tie S up in one of the female glory holes. Needless to say her pussy got a lot of attention. A really fun night as always in Secret. |
